Canadian Trials, Day 5 Prelims: Summer McIntosh, Mary-Sophie Harvey 1-2 in 400 IM as McIntosh Drops 200 Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

Summer McIntosh<\/strong> and Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> finished 1-2 in prelims of the women\u2019s 400 individual medley Wednesday at Bell Canadian Trials. McIntosh passed up a double by scratching the 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n

McIntosh, who has set two world record and narrowly missed two in the first four days in British Columbia, went 4:40.93. As she has all meet, she kept her powder dry in prelims. It\u2019s led to fireworks before in finals.<\/p>\n

Harvey was second in 4:41.02, followed by Mabel Zavaros\u2019<\/strong> 4:42.02 and Ella Jansen<\/strong> in 4:44.37. Jansen is already through to Worlds. The top three are under the Worlds A cut even in prelims, while McIntosh will have eyes on the 4:24.38 world record she set in Toronto at Olympic Trials. She\u2019s the reigning Olympic champion in this event. Jansen finished 11th in Paris.<\/p>\n
