US Nationals Day 5 Finals: Gretchen Walsh Equals American Record in Women’s 50 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> and Torri Huske<\/strong> head-to-head once again, this time with American record holder Kate Douglass<\/strong> and Simone Manuel<\/strong> looming.<\/p>\n

It was poised to be a fantastic finish to the women’s portion of the 2025 U.S. National Championships on Saturday night in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Walsh pulled ahead and equaled Douglass’ American record of 23.91, breaking the U.S. Open and meet record set by Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> along the way (24.00).<\/p>\n

Huske was second in 23.98, her first time under 24 and also ahead of the previous U.S. Open record.<\/p>\n

Douglass finished third in 24.04, ahead of Manuel (24.39) in a very fast final.<\/p>\n
