{"id":614074,"date":"2025-06-07T07:28:33","date_gmt":"2025-06-07T14:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=614074"},"modified":"2025-06-07T08:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-07T15:11:09","slug":"u-s-nationals-day-5-womens-prelims-alex-walsh-cruises-to-top-seed-in-200-im","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-nationals-day-5-womens-prelims-alex-walsh-cruises-to-top-seed-in-200-im\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Nationals Day 5 Women&#8217;s Prelims: Alex Walsh Cruises to Top Seed in 200 IM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>U.S. Nationals Day 5 Women&#8217;s Prelims: Alex Walsh Cruises to Top Seed in 200 IM<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The final morning of the 2025 U.S. National Championships kicked off from the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>The Day 5 prelims is a short one, just the 200 IM and 50 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a look at what happened in the women&#8217;s events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2025-us-national-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2025\/world-champs-team-trials-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>US Nationals: Women&#8217;s 200 IM<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Alex Walsh<\/strong> took the early lead in the final heat with<strong> Leah Hayes<\/strong> and <strong>Zoe Dixon<\/strong> just behind. Walsh gave herself a little more separation in the breaststroke leg, as expected. Walsh finished in 2:10.92, ahead of Hayes (2:11.22).<\/p>\n<p>In the second circle-seeded heat, <strong>Caroline Bricker<\/strong> (2:11.63) passed <strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> (2:11.68) in the final five meters to take the heat win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lucy Bell<\/strong> claimed the first circle-seeded heat in 2:12.82.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh, Hayes, Bricker and Bacon led the field. <strong>Audrey Derivaux<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 2:11.90, followed by <strong>Campbell Chase<\/strong> (2:12.28), Bell and <strong>Teagan O&#8217;Dell<\/strong> (2:12.97).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campbell Stoll<\/strong> missed the A final by a hundredth of a second.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kate Douglass, Beata Nelson, Alex Shackell, Erin Gemmell<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> scratched the Kate Douglass<\/strong> went a 24.38 to hold off <strong>Julia Dennis<\/strong> (24.57) and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> (24.70).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> won the second circle-seeded heat in 24.42 ahead of <strong>Rylee Erisman<\/strong> (25.03).<\/p>\n<p>Walsh, Douglass and Huske took the top times, ahead of Dennis and Manuel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anna Peplowski, Katharine
