U.S. Nationals: Emma Weyant Mastering the Reset Button, Leading to Another Team USA<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

After making two Olympic teams, Emma Weyant<\/strong> has nothing to prove.<\/p>\n

But with that experience, she has a different outlook on big meets and the opportunities those bring – especially learning how to reset.<\/p>\n

“I am trying to take my career in right now because I don’t know how much more time I have in the sport. I am really thankful for where I am,” Weyant said. “I don’t know how many more 400 IMs I have left in my career, so I am just trying to take it all in and make the most of my opportunities. I am really happy to be back on the worlds team and take it year by year.”<\/p>\n

Weyant won the 400 IM<\/a> in 4:34.81 to make her fourth international team. She has won Olympic silver and bronze in the 400 IM. Like several swimmers, her TYR Pro Swim Series performance in Fort Lauderdale showed her she was ready for the world stage again.<\/p>\n

“Resetting after last summer, I have gotten back in my groove with training. NCAAs went well and that really got me swimming as well as I have. I surprised myself a little bit in Fort Lauderdale and that really gave me a lot of confidence and I think my training heading into trials is the best it has been all year,” she said. “Coming off NCAAs, taking a few weekends to reset, then going full force back into it helped me a lot.”<\/p>\n

Now she has six weeks to reset once again.<\/p>\n

“I am definitely heading in the right direction and looking forward to the next few weeks of training. I really like training the 400 IM. I love to work hard and Florida is a place that is perfect for that,” Emma Weyant said. “I need to get back to Gainesville, reset, get back in the weight room, fix a couple things – the finals swim was a little messy and the front half was good, the fly has improved a lot but I think the back 200 could go a little better.”<\/p>\n

If her next reset is as good as her last one, another podium could be in her future in Singapore.<\/p>\n
