U.S. Nationals: 200 Freestyle Battles Kick Off Day 2 (Prelims Heat Sheet)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Wednesday morning prelims session at U.S. Nationals will include qualifying races in the 200 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 backstroke and 50 butterfly. The five-day meet is being held at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

The top three seeds in the women’s 200 free are all looking to build on standout performances on night one.\u00a0Claire Weinstein<\/strong> overcame a huge deficit to finish second in the 800 free, a race won by\u00a0Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, while\u00a0Erin Gemmell<\/strong> swam a big personal best to finish fifth in the 100 free.\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong> will swim next to Gemmell in heat six while next to Ledecky is\u00a0Alex Shackell<\/strong>, attempting to bounce back from a fourth-place finish in the 200 fly.<\/p>\n

Olympic bronze medalist and short course world champion Luke Hobson<\/strong> is the big favorite in the men’s 200 free, with\u00a0Chris Guiliano<\/strong> racing one heat earlier while\u00a0Kieran Smith<\/strong> and\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong> are both in the first circle-seeded heat.<\/p>\n

Kate Douglass<\/strong> and\u00a0Alex Walsh<\/strong> are the big favorites in the women’s 200 breast, with NCAA champion\u00a0Lucy Bell<\/strong> next to Douglass in the final heat. In the men’s event,\u00a0AJ Pouch<\/strong> is the top seed with Olympic finalist\u00a0Josh Matheny\u00a0<\/strong>holding down lane four one heat earlier.<\/p>\n

The women’s 200 back sees\u00a0Claire Curzan<\/strong> and\u00a0Rhyan White<\/strong> in heat 5,\u00a0Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> in heat 6 and\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong> next to teenager\u00a0Audrey Derivaux<\/strong> in heat 7. In the men’s 200 back, watch out for\u00a0Destin Lasco<\/strong> in an early heat before top seeds\u00a0Keaton Jones<\/strong> and\u00a0Jack Aikins<\/strong> go to work.<\/p>\n

Finally,\u00a0Gretchen Walsh <\/strong>and\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong> race in the final heat of the 50 fly, with Douglass up one heat earlier.\u00a0Shaine Casas<\/strong> and 200 fly winner\u00a0Luca Urlando<\/strong> are in the last heat of the men’s event, just after\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong> and\u00a0Thomas Heilman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
