(Heat Sheets)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025 U.S. National Championships kicked off in Indianapolis today.<\/p>\n<p>The meet will determine the country\u2019s roster for the upcoming World Aquatics Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The Day 1 finals session will include heats the men\u2019s and women\u2019s 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly and will also have the fastest heats of the men\u2019s 1500 freestyle and women\u2019s 800 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>There will be A and B finals, then after those, there will be C and D finals.<\/p>\n<p>There were no real surprises during prelims, though <strong>Jack Alexy<\/strong> crushed the U.S. Open record in the 100 freestyle to take the top seed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2025-us-national-championships-day-1-finals-heat-sheets-day-1\/usa-senior-national\/2025\/June\/3?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1 Finals Heat Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/former-west-virginia-coach-vic-riggs-hired-to-lead-d2-lenoir-rhyne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complete Meet Coverage<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2025\/world-champs-team-trials-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>First is the 200 butterfly and top-seeded\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith<\/strong>\u00a0will find herself in familiar territory in the middle of the pool. Fellow Olympian\u00a0<strong>Alex Shackell<\/strong> and <strong>Caroline Bricker<\/strong> will look to make headway.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 200 butterfly has\u00a0<strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> in the top spot and he will be in Lane 4 for finals with <strong>Gabriel Jett<\/strong> and <strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> looming.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 100 freestyle is one of the most star-studded of the U.S. National Championships. <strong> Gretchen Walsh <\/strong>took the top seed and will be in Lane 4, familiarly flanked by K<strong>ate Douglass<\/strong> and <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> with Olympians <strong>Simone Manuel, Erin Gemmell<\/strong> and <strong>Claire Weinstein<\/strong> looming.<\/p>\n<p>Will anyone catch Alexy at the U.S. National Championships? There are plenty of great sprinters in the final with <strong>Chris Guiliano, Jonny Kulow, Destin Laso, Patrick Sammon, Shaine Casas, Grant House<\/strong> and <strong>Henry McFadden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And the distance events will close out the A finals with <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> the obvious favorite in the 800 free and <strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> the favorite in the 1500 free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025 U.S. National Championships kicked off in Indianapolis today.
