{"id":612559,"date":"2025-05-29T22:29:07","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T05:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=612559"},"modified":"2025-05-29T22:29:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T05:29:07","slug":"usa-swimming-offers-update-on-ceo-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-offers-update-on-ceo-search\/","title":{"rendered":"USA Swimming Offers Update on CEO Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>USA Swimming Offers Update on CEO Search<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The USA Swimming Board of Directors on Thursday offered members an update to its CEO search, which began last August.<\/p>\n<p>USA Swimming has bolstered its search committee with University of Texas coach <strong>Bob Bowman<\/strong> and board member <strong>Kathy Fish<\/strong> (as well as <strong>Chris Brearton,<\/strong> as a non-voting member). With interim CEO <strong>Bob Vincent<\/strong> in charge, the organization said it is, \u201cin the position to both act with a sense of urgency and to make the best possible decision for the organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From the statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Following a recent round of in-person engagements, we are actively working with a strong pool of candidates. To ensure comprehensive evaluations, we have introduced smaller sub-committees within the Task Force to conduct more in-depth interviews and assessments. We also brought on Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as a complementary search partner, to provide an additional point of view. We continue to benefit from the strategic counsel of NU Advisory Partners, a trusted advisor to the process.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>USA Swimming has been searching for a replacement since <strong>Tim Hinchey<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sources-usa-swimming-to-replace-ceo-tim-hinchey-director-lindsay-mintenko\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resigned last August<\/a>. In February, it named University of Delaware Athletic Director <strong>Chrissi Rawak<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-names-chrissi-rawak-new-president-and-ceo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to the position<\/a>, but she withdrew from the job after a SafeSport <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/chrissi-rawak-out-as-usa-swimming-ceo-because-of-previous-safesport-complaint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complaint surfaced<\/a>. Vincent is the second interim CEO in that time, having replaced <strong>Shana Ferguson<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-names-bob-vincent-interim-ceo-ferguson-joining-la28\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">upon her departure<\/a> to join the LA 2028 Olympic organizing committee.<\/p>\n<p>While the CEO chair remains vacant, USA has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/greg-meehan-named-usa-swimming-national-team-managing-director-leaves-rich-legacy-at-stanford\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">replaced national team managing director<\/a> <strong>Lindsay Mintenko<\/strong> with <strong>Greg Meehan<\/strong> and hired for his staff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-names-yuri-suguiyama-national-team-senior-director-and-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with long-time coach<\/a> <strong>Yuri Suguiyama.<\/strong> The search task force was reconstituted in March, including Bowman, Brearton, and Fish; Olympic athletes <strong>Maya Dirado Andrews, Catilin Leverenz Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Natalie Coughlin;<\/strong> USA Swimming Foundation vice-chair <strong>Anne Berry;<\/strong> Lake Forest Swim Club executive director <strong>Michael Lawrence;<\/strong> Long Island Aquatics owner and coach <strong>Ginny Nussbaum;<\/strong> and LSC Executive Director <strong>Jamie Platt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand this has been a long process,\u201d the letter reads, \u201cbut we remain excited and committed to identifying and engaging the right individual to lead USA Swimming and our incredible athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers through the LA28 Olympic Games and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USA Swimming Offers Update on CEO Search The USA Swimming Board of Directors on Thursday offered members an update to its CEO search, which began last August.
