{"id":612356,"date":"2025-05-25T11:39:58","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T18:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=612356"},"modified":"2025-05-25T11:39:58","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T18:39:58","slug":"kentucky-adds-karissa-kruszewski-as-associate-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kentucky-adds-karissa-kruszewski-as-associate-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky Adds Karissa Kruszewski as Associate Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kentucky Adds Karissa Kruszewski as Associate Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kentucky this week announced the hiring of <strong>Karissa Kruszewski<\/strong> as an association head coach on <strong>Bret Lundgaard\u2019s<\/strong> staff.<\/p>\n<p>Kruszewski spent six seasons with UCLA\u2019s women\u2019s program, starting as an assistant coach in 2019 and elevated to associate head coach in Oct. 2022. She was also the team\u2019s acting head coach from February to August 2024. Her duties in Westwood included recruiting coordination, and she was an assistant on the World University Games staff for the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Kruszewski helped UCLA finish in the top four of the final four Pac-12 championships, then the women finished seventh in their inaugural Big Ten Championships this year. At the 2024 NCAA Championships, the Bruins finished 22nd, the program\u2019s highest finish since 2017.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/sec-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEC Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to be a part of the University of Kentucky swimming and diving programs!\u201d Kruszewski said <a href=\"https:\/\/ukathletics.com\/news\/2025\/05\/19\/karissa-kruszewski-named-associate-coach-for-swimming-and-diving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a university statement<\/a>. \u201cI have great respect for the work being done here under Bret and want to thank him and all those involved for this opportunity. I\u2019m eager to contribute to both teams\u2019 pursuit of greatness and excellence on the SEC, NCAA and international scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kruszewski hails from Murietta, Calif. She began her swimming career at UC Irvine, then swam at the University of Wisconsin, where she graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree in sociology in 2013. She added a master\u2019s degree in organizational change leadership from the University of Wisconsin, Plateville, in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Kruszewski bean coaching at Oregon High School and Stoughton High School, both in Wisconsin. She spent a season as an assistant at Division II Cal East Bay.
