Prior to UNC, Brown spent seven seasons with Missouri as an assistant coach. Dr. Brown is also a published author, with his recent release of &#8220;The Six Questions: A Step-By-Step Guide to Swimming Fast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to welcome Jack Brown to Wisconsin,&#8221; said Director of Athletics Chris McIntosh. &#8220;He is a very accomplished coach and has demonstrated a commitment to the entire student-athlete experience. Jack&#8217;s care for student-athlete personal growth, as well as athletic development, aligns perfectly with our department&#8217;s mission. His experience competing at the highest level of collegiate swimming as well as working alongside elite coaches will bring tremendous perspective and energy to our swimming and diving program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With the Tar Heels, Brown coached the individual medley group, middle-distance, and distance groups, in addition to serving as the teams&#8217; mental performance coach. In the 2022-23 season, he helped the women&#8217;s team record their highest NCAA finish since 2001, placing 10<sup>th<\/sup>, while the men finished 23<sup>rd<\/sup> at the NCAA National Championship in 2023-24 and 2024-25. In his tenure with the Tar Heels, he has helped the program to secure five top-25 NCAA finishes with the women&#8217;s team, three top-25 NCAA finishes with the men&#8217;s team, while also producing multiple NCAA qualifiers, All-Americans, and numerous athletes qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am honored to accept the position as head coach of swimming and diving at the University of Wisconsin,&#8221; Brown stated. &#8220;The Badgers have a long history of success, and I look forward to building on the efforts of the previous staff and helping Wisconsin reach new heights. This place has it all: incredible facilities, comprehensive support services, a highly successful athletic department, at a world-class university in one of the best cities in the country. On, Wisconsin!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Prior to UNC, Brown spent three seasons at Missouri as a full-time assistant coach following four years as a volunteer and graduate assistant. During his tenure with the Tigers, Brown worked with the middle-distance, distance, and individual medley groups, serving as the primary coach of the distance group for his final three seasons with the Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>Brown graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Arizona and earned doctorate in philosophy with the University of Missouri. As an undergrad, Brown was a member of the NCAA Championship team in 2008.
