He swam collegiately at UMBC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am thrilled to be the next head coach of Georgetown swimming &amp; diving,&#8221; Carroll said <a href=\"https:\/\/guhoyas.com\/news\/2025\/5\/8\/john-carroll-named-head-coach-of-georgetown-swimming-diving.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a university release<\/a>. &#8220;I would like to thank Athletic Director Lee Reed and Administrator Pat McArdle for this opportunity and belief in me. I would also like to thank Jack Leavitt for his efforts in building the program to where it is today. It was easy for me to see that Georgetown&#8217;s location, beautiful campus, world-class academics and championship-level swimming &amp; diving program make it a great place to develop an amazing student-athlete experience. My family and I cannot wait to get to D.C. and join the Hoya family. Let&#8217;s get to work, HOYA SAXA!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Carroll replaces <strong>Jack Leavitt,<\/strong> who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/georgetown-head-coach-jack-leavitt-leaving-program-after-nine-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">departed the program after nine years in charge<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Carroll spent two seasons in Charlottesville, helping the Cavaliers\u2019 women\u2019s team extend its streak of NCAA titles to five this spring. Carroll spent three seasons at UNC Wilmington as an assistant, helping the Seahawks win the CAA title in 2022 and qualify its first NCAA swimmer in a decade. UNCW won the combined CAA title in 2023 for the first time in 17 seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Carroll graduated from UMBC in 2016, a team captain as a senior in leading the Retrievers to their third conference title. He was a volunteer assistant at Rowan University and an assistant coach at Jersey Wahoos for two years. He received his master\u2019s degree in education at Auburn, where he was a graduate assistant from 2018-20.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m thrilled to announce John Carroll as our new head swimming &amp; diving coach,&#8221; Georgetown director of athletics <strong>Lee Reed<\/strong> said. &#8220;Carroll brings a wealth of experience at the top level of collegiate swimming &amp; diving.
