Great Britain Selects Team Of 20 For European U23 Championships<\/h4>\n

A 20-strong team has been selected to represent Great Britain<\/strong> at the second edition of the European Aquatics U23 Swimming Championships<\/strong> in Slovakia in June.<\/p>\n

The team – which was selected following April’s Aquatics GB Swimming Championships<\/strong> in London – includes Paris Olympians Honey Osrin<\/strong> and Alexander Cohoon<\/strong>. Osrin was seventh in the 200 back at La Defense Arena while Cohoon swam the prelims of the 4×100 free and 50 free.<\/p>\n

The three-day meet runs from 26-28 June at the X-bionic Sphere pool in Samorin and is open primarily to people born between 2002 and 2006.<\/p>\n

Evelyn Davies<\/strong>, Lucy Grieve<\/strong> and Charlie Hutchison<\/strong> all make their second appearance at the continental competition while Megan Barnes<\/strong> – who secured a maiden British title in the women’s 400 free last month – is among a trio of debutants to feature along with Rory Dickson<\/strong> and Niamh Ward<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tyler Melbourne-Smith<\/strong> and Reece Grady<\/strong> – who won the 800 and 1500 free respectively at the British Championships – are also selected.<\/p>\n

Seven members of the team who competed at the 2023 edition of the championships in Dublin have progressed to secure their involvement at this summer\u2019s World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.<\/a><\/p>\n

Aquatics GB Team Leader for the Championships, Nathan Hilton<\/strong> said:\u00a0\u201cIt is an exciting prospect that we have put together a team with great depth to attend the second edition of this competition, one that will offer racing against world-class competitors in a big arena environment. As we progress towards the LA and Brisbane Games, exposure to these types of championship conditions play a key role within our strategic pathway to develop the next wave of talent \u2013 and provide an excellent opportunity for us to embed outstanding team behaviours as we transition athletes towards our senior team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the calibre of this team including two Olympians and seven European junior medallists \u2013 while also exposing three new debutants to British teams \u2013 we know that each and every one of them can thrive in this big-meet environment and can use the opportunity to build on performances set at the Aquatics GB Championships to underpin world class processes for future international competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n
