IRVINE, Calif, November 6. UC Irvine sophomore Zack Zucker (Pleasanton\/University of Arizona) was named Big West Male Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week after winning the 100 breaststroke event against UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly and Cal State Northridge at the Big West Shootout. Zucker's time of 57.31 for the 100 breast was fourth overall in the meet and topped his season-best mark of 59.01. <\/p>\n

UC Irvine freshman Ashley DePaul (Villa Park HS) was named Big West Female Athlete of the Week. DePaul broke the school record in the 100 and 200 butterfly events with times of 56.81 and 2:06.73 at the Big West Shootout. <\/p>\n

Her time in the 100 fly placed first in the competition against UCSB, Cal Poly and Cal State Northridge and was third overall in the Big West Shootout. Her time of 2:06.73 topped her season-best mark of 2:08.23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
