British Championships, Day 3 Women’s Finals: Eva Okaro Scorches To 24.48 50 Free & Angharad Evans Goes 2:21 In 200 Breast<\/h4>\n

Eva Okaro<\/strong> scorched to 24.48 in the 50 free and Angharad Evans<\/strong> went 2:21.86 in the 200m breaststroke on day three of the Aquatics GB Swimming Championship<\/strong>s in London.<\/p>\n

Okaro, who is coached by Jamie Main<\/strong> at Repton School<\/strong>, booked a trip to the World Championships in Singapore, a year after sealing her spot on Team GB for Paris 2024 with a fine swim at last year’s Olympic trials.<\/p>\n

Evans rattled the British record before making the cut with some ease while Lauren Cox took the 50 back.<\/p>\n

Okaro and Evans joined\u00a0Freya Colbert<\/strong> (200 free, 4IM), Keanna MacInnes<\/strong> (200 fly) and Abbie Wood<\/strong> (4IM) on the plane to the Singapore worlds.<\/p>\n

The meet doubles as trials for the World Championships which run from 27 July to 3 August where selection will be based on performances at the Paris Olympics<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Aquatics GB Swimming Championships<\/strong>\u00a0in London.<\/p>\n

Swimmers who won a medal in an individual event at\u00a0Paris 2024<\/strong>\u00a0will be selected to the Great Britain team for this event in Singapore.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Individual medallists in Paris were\u00a0Adam Peaty<\/strong>\u00a0(silver, 100m breaststroke),\u00a0Ben Proud<\/strong>\u00a0(silver, 50m freestyle),\u00a0Matt Richards<\/strong>\u00a0(silver, 200m freestyle) and Scott (silver, 200IM). Peaty however is taking a break from competition and won\u2019t be in Singapore.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Relay medallists will be selected subject to confirmation by the Great Britain head coach,\u00a0Steve Tigg<\/strong>. The men\u2019s 4\u00d72 free quartet claimed an historic gold as they defended their title from Tokyo with\u00a0Tom Dean<\/strong>\u00a0and Guy joining Richards and Scott.<\/p>\n

While swimmers who won a medal in an individual event at Paris 2024 will be selected to the Great Britain team for that event in Singapore, no British women reached the podium in the French capital.<\/p>\n

To qualify for worlds, a swimmer must finish first in an Olympic event and record a time that equals or betters those in the table below.<\/p>\n

Athletes that finish second in a time equal or better than that in the table will be considered for selection to a team that will have a maximum of 30 athletes.<\/div>\n
