British Championships, Day 2 Men’s Finals: Duncan Scott Rattles British 200 Fly Record<\/h4>\n

Duncan Scott<\/strong> was within 0.31 of the British 200 fly record after a tussle with Ed Mildred<\/strong> on the second night of finals at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships<\/strong> in London.<\/p>\n

Mildred led the way with a PB in prelims but it was Scott who forged ahead on the final 50 after going into the last turn with a miniscule 0.01 advantage.<\/p>\n

Scott has already qualified for the World Championships thanks to his performances at Paris 2024 where he won silver in the 200IM and gold with the 4×2 free relay.<\/p>\n

Max Litchfield<\/strong> also booked a berth for Singapore in the 400IM while 17-year-old Max Morgan<\/strong> claimed his first British title in the 50m breaststroke.<\/p>\n

The meet doubles as trials for the World Championships which run from 27 July to 3 August in Singapore where selection will be based on performances at the\u00a0Paris Olympics<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Aquatics GB Swimming Championships<\/strong>\u00a0in London.<\/p>\n

Swimmers who won a medal in an individual event at\u00a0Paris 2024<\/strong>\u00a0will be selected to the Great Britain team for this event in Singapore.<\/p>\n

Individual medallists in Paris were\u00a0Adam Peaty<\/strong>\u00a0(silver, 100m breaststroke),\u00a0Ben Proud<\/strong>\u00a0(silver, 50m freestyle),\u00a0Matt Richards<\/strong> (silver, 200m freestyle) and Scott (silver, 200IM). Peaty however is taking a break from competition and won’t be in Singapore.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Relay medallists will be selected subject to confirmation by the Great Britain head coach,\u00a0Steve Tigg<\/strong>. The men\u2019s 4\u00d72 free quartet claimed an historic gold as they defended their title from Tokyo with\u00a0Tom Dean<\/strong>\u00a0and Guy joining Richards and Scott.<\/p>\n

While swimmers who won a medal in an individual event at Paris 2024 will be selected to the Great Britain team for that event in Singapore, no British women reached the podium in the French capital.<\/p>\n

To qualify for worlds, a swimmer must finish first in an Olympic event and record a time that equals or betters those in the table below.<\/p>\n

Athletes that finish second in a time equal or better than that in the table will be considered for selection to a team that will have a maximum of 30 athletes.<\/div>\n
