Even without the retired <strong>Tatjana Smith,<\/strong> it seems to remain so.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rebecca Meder<\/strong> continued a strong meet at the South African Senior Championships by winning the event Friday in 2:23.61. That\u2019s an A Cut for the World Championships, as is the runner-up time of Olympian <strong>Kaylene Corbett,<\/strong> who went 2:24.70.<\/p>\n<p>Corbett was seven seconds clear of the third-place finisher at the Newton Park Swimming Pool in Gqeberha. It\u2019s Meder\u2019s third individual championship of the meet.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimsa.org\/disciplines\/swimming\/events-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Information<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimsa.org\/disciplines\/swimming\/events-1\/2025\/sa-national-swimming-championships-newton-park-swimming-pool-gqeberha-9-13-april-2025\/sanat-2025_psych-sheet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psych Sheet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/matt-sates-starts-south-african-championships-with-200-free-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South African Swimming Night 1 Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rebecca-meder-michaela-de-villiers-set-records-at-south-african-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South African Swimming Night 2 Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Erin Gallagher<\/strong> and <strong>Pieter Coetze<\/strong>\u00a0dropped fast times in the 100 freestyle in Friday\u2019s evening session.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher went 54.94 to win the women\u2019s race. She was a half-second clear of <strong>Olivia Nel\u2019s<\/strong> 55.46, with two other times under 56 seconds. The World Championships A cut is 54.25, which Gallagher was just shy of. Gallagher&#8217;s national record time is 54.23.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, Coetze added another victory in 48.63, within three tenths of the A cut. <strong>Ruard van Renan<\/strong> was second in 49.34, with <strong>Guy Brooks<\/strong> in 59.39 and another strong swim from <strong>Kris Mihaylov<\/strong> to go 49.85.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Sates<\/strong> dominated the men\u2019s 400 individual medley with a time of 4:19.24 that was nearly 10 seconds clear of the field. Sates\u2019 time is within two seconds of the World A Cut. It\u2019s his fourth championship of a meet in which he\u2019s entered in 10 events. <strong>Cameron Casali<\/strong> was second.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 200 breast went to <strong>Matthew Randle<\/strong> in a slower but closer race.
