{"id":609272,"date":"2025-03-31T12:05:35","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T19:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=609272"},"modified":"2025-03-31T12:05:35","modified_gmt":"2025-03-31T19:05:35","slug":"hubert-kos-carson-tyler-named-cscaa-mens-swimmer-diver-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hubert-kos-carson-tyler-named-cscaa-mens-swimmer-diver-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Hubert Kos, Carson Tyler Named CSCAA Men\u2019s Swimmer, Diver of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hubert Kos, Carson Tyler Named CSCAA Men\u2019s Swimmer, Diver of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas\u2019s <strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> and <strong>Carson Tyler<\/strong> of Indiana were named Men\u2019s Division I Swimmer and Diver of the Year, respectively, by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Their mentors \u2013 <strong>Bob Bowman<\/strong> and <strong>Drew Johansen<\/strong> \u2013 took home the coach of the year honors for swimming and diving, as voted on by CSCAA-member Division I coaches after the completion of the NCAA Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Kos was the only swimmer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hubert-kos-marchand-moments-instrumental-to-texas-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">win three individual gold medals<\/a>. He claimed the 200 individual medley, the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke, setting NCAA records in both. He led the Longhorns to their 16th national title.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman is the coach of the year for the second consecutive season. He\u2019s the only men\u2019s coach to win the NCAA title at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bob-bowman-becomes-first-mens-coach-to-win-consecutive-national-titles-at-different-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two different schools in consecutive years<\/a>, after guiding Arizona State to its maiden title a year ago. Texas set three NCAA records and won seven gold medals, five silver and one bronze on the way to the title.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler won the 3-meter and platform titles to claim this award for the second consecutive year. It\u2019s his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-mens-championships-indianas-carson-tyler-stellar-in-platform-3-peat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">third consecutive title on platform<\/a> and second on 3-meter. He finished ninth on 1-meter, though his finals score was second-highest of the night session.<\/p>\n<p>Johansen wins this award for the third consecutive years and fourth overall. Under his leadership, the Hoosiers became the first time since Miami in 1997 to sweep all three diving events at a men\u2019s NCAA championships, with Tyler winning two titles and <strong>Quinn Henninger<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-mens-championships-indianas-quentin-henninger-soars-to-1-meter-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prevailing on 1-meter<\/a> and finishing second to Tyler on 3-meter.
