The Tennessee senior, in his last individual college event, went 39.83 to set the NCAA record in the men\u2019s 100 freestyle at the NCAA Championships Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Crooks\u2019 time downed the hallowed record of 39.90 by Caleb Dressel in 2018.<\/p>\n

Crooks is in good form this week, having won the 50 freestyle<\/a> and leading Tennessee to its first men\u2019s relay title since 1996<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Crooks is searching for his third career individual NCAA title, having won the 50 free in 2023 and this year, posting six times under 18 seconds, a club to which he and Dressel belong. He was fifth in the 100 free as a freshman and sophomore, then fourth last year. Eleven of his 12 individual swims have landed him in A finals at NCAAs.
