He was off on his approach but managed enough to win with a score of 467.45. He needed 65 points and got 66.

“It is a newer dive and I felt like I needed a good dive. I was super anxious and I got to the end of the board and I was way on the end, but I did my flips, landed on my head and it all worked out,” Tyler said. “This means a lot, especially doing it with these harder dives that will be big moving forward on the international level.”

Henninger finished with a forward 4 1/2 somersault tuck and got 81.7 points to put him in second place with 466.15 points.

“It felt like we were building off of each other the entire meet,” Henninger said. “It felt like a group effort. I felt pretty good. No big misses and that is what I was going for.”

They weren’t the only Hoosiers having a great day on the boards.

Maxwell Weinrich finished with a forward 2 1/2 somersault with two twists in the pike position and nailed it. He finished with 389.20 points to take sixth.

“I look up to these guys so much. I am so happy to be in a final with them and put up some points for IU,” Weinrich said. “It was a great day. Last year I got in the B final and I was super happy to get in the A final. I was a little juiced up on my fifth-round dive, but all and all it was a good day.”

Stanford’s Jack Ryan scored 83.60 on the final dive to finish with 457.90, ahead of Texas freshman Jacob Welsh (395.95) and USC’s Shangfei Wang (393.10).

“That is one of the reasons I started using harder dives. The competition keeps pushing the boundaries and it is cool to see the sport move in that direction,” Tyler said.

NCAA Division I Men’s Championships Meet Page

Live Results

Event 13 Men 3 mtr Diving
=========================================================================
         Meet: M 529.10 3/27/2015 Samuel Dorman, Miami (FL)
    Name Year School Prelims Finals Points
=========================================================================
                       === Championship Final ===

  1 Tyler, Carson          SR Indiana            443.20     467.45   20
  2 Henninger, Quentin     SR Indiana            420.90     466.15   17
  3 Ryan, Jack             SR Stanford           411.00     457.90   16
  4 Welsh, Jacob           FR Texas              375.50     395.95   15
  5 Wang, Shangfei         SR USC                390.40     393.10   14
  6 Cash, Cameron          SR Pittsburgh         369.50     391.20   13
  7 Weinrich, Maxwell      JR Indiana            396.05     389.20   12
  8 Chaplin, Clayton       SR OSU                369.55     383.60   11

                        === Consolation Final ===

  9 Rzepka, Jordan         SR Purdue             357.45     432.15    9
10 Wesemann, Moritz       SR USC                363.50     430.00    7
11 Bottego III, Allen     SR TAMU               366.40     410.80    6
12 Fowler, Max            SO GT                 357.80     386.40    5
13 Greene, Bennett        FR Tennessee          356.65     385.45    4
14 Miller, Maxwell        SO Purdue             364.75     353.75    3
15 Paul, Carson           JR LSU                369.35     315.10    2
16 Thai, Joshua           JR California         356.55     307.65    1

                 Men - Team Rankings - Through Event 13

  1.
