Mark Schubert Returns as Assistant Coach at Golden West<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Mark Schubert<\/strong> is back in the college coaching game.<\/p>\n

Golden West Athletics announced that the former U.S. Olympic coach will be an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are absolutely thrilled to welcome Coach Schubert back at Golden West,\u201d said Danny Johnson,<\/strong> Athletic Director at GWC. \u201cHis passion for developing swimmers at all levels and his lifetime of accomplishments make him an invaluable addition to our coaching staff. Our student-athletes will benefit tremendously from his experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schubert brings a legacy of excellence, leadership, and Olympic success back to the Rustler program. His return marks a homecoming, having previously served as Golden West\u2019s head coach from 2011 -2016, where he led the Rustlers to four 3C2A State Team Titles.<\/p>\n

Mark Schubert’s resume is tough to beat.<\/p>\n

\u2022 As an 8-time U.S. Olympic Swim Coach, he has mentored 33 Olympians who have collectively earned 29 Olympic gold medals.<\/p>\n

\u2022 His tenure as head coach at the University of Texas (1988\u20131992) produced two NCAA Team Championships,<\/p>\n

\u2022 While coaching at USC (1992\u20132006), he brought home one NCAA Team Championship for the Trojans.<\/p>\n

\u2022 He served as USA Swimming National Team Head Coach from 2006 to 2010, guiding the U.S. through some of its most successful international campaigns.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Mark Schubert led the Mission Viejo Nadadores (1972\u20131985) to an astonishing 43 National Team Championships\u2014a record that still stands today.<\/p>\n

\u2022 A 5-time ASCA Coach of the Year and a proud inductee into the International Swimming Hall of Fame, a testament to the impact he has made on the sport at every level.
