{"id":608378,"date":"2025-03-24T20:56:30","date_gmt":"2025-03-25T03:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=608378"},"modified":"2025-03-24T20:56:30","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T03:56:30","slug":"justin-finkel-kaley-mcintyre-repeat-as-division-iii-swimmers-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/justin-finkel-kaley-mcintyre-repeat-as-division-iii-swimmers-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Justin Finkel, Kaley McIntyre Repeat As Division III Swimmers of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Justin Finkel, Kaley McIntyre Repeat As Division III Swimmers of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Connecticut College\u2019s <strong>Justin Finkel<\/strong> and <strong>Kaley McIntyre<\/strong> of NYU each repeated as Division III Swimmers of the Years, as voted by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscaa.org\/news\/2022314\/division-iii-awards-all-americans-2025-yjgr2-3pc44-ce8cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The state of New York supplied both Divers of the Year, with <strong>Trent Makowiec<\/strong> of SUNY Geneseo on the men\u2019s side and Ithaca\u2019s <strong>Kailee Payne<\/strong> on the women\u2019s, the latter for the second straight year. Their coaches \u2013 <strong>Shawn Austin<\/strong> of Geneseo and <strong>Chris Griffin<\/strong> of Ithaca \u2013 won the top coaching honors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/ncaa-division-iii-coverage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA Division III Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both national championship winning coaches won Swim Coach of the Year honors, with MIT\u2019s <strong>Meg Sisson French<\/strong> getting the women\u2019s honor and <strong>Gregg Parini<\/strong> of Denison on the men\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<p>Finkel is the Male Swimmer of the Year for the second straight year. He won the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly at the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. The senior was third in the 100 fly. He\u2019s a four-time NCAA champion.<\/p>\n<p>McIntyre also repeated in this award. The junior won the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free. She set NCAA records in the 50 and 100, repeated as the champion in the 100 and three-peated in the 50 and 200. McIntyre helped the Violets to a runner-up finish, the best in program history.<\/p>\n<p>Parini led Denison to its sixth national title and first since 2019. It\u2019s his eighth time earning the men\u2019s CSCAA Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Sisson French led MIT to its first national title, the Engineers never having finished in the top two. MIT scored 497 points, winning three individual and four relay titles and securing the lead late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-division-iii-championships-night-4-is-a-saturday-lead-change-in-the-cards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on the final day of competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Makowiec swept the diving titles at the Division III Championships, the fifth-year diver winning the 3-meter event by three points, then dominating on 1-meter. Austin is the coach of the year for the second straight year and fourth total.<\/p>\n<p>Payne repeats as the women\u2019s diver of the year, successfully defending her 1-meter and 3-meter titles. She scored 522.80 on 3-meterand won by more than 16 points on 1-meter. Teammate <strong>Angela Burke<\/strong> also scored on e-meter, helping Griffin win his fourth CSCAA coaching honor and second in a row.<\/p>\n<p>CSCAA also released its list of All-America honorees, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscaa.org\/news\/2022314\/division-iii-awards-all-americans-2025-yjgr2-3pc44-ce8cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available
