Georgetown Head Coach Jack Leavitt Leaving Program after Nine Years<\/strong><\/p>\n

Georgetown University head swimming and diving coach Jack Leavitt<\/strong> announced last week that he is leaving the program after nine years in charge.<\/p>\n

Leavitt is taking over as the director of athletics at Campbell Hall School in Studio City, California.<\/p>\n

Leavitt won four Big East Championships at the helm of the Hoyas, including just this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeaving Georgetown is one of the hardest decisions I\u2019ve ever had to make,\u201d Leavitt said in a press release<\/a>. \u201cThis program, this university, and\u2014most importantly\u2014the people here have meant the world to me and my family. The past nine years have been an incredible journey of growth, success, and transformation, but through it all, the one constant has been the relationships. Coaching these student-athletes has been a privilege, and the bonds we\u2019ve built extend far beyond competition. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have led this program, and I leave knowing it is in great hands and primed for continued success.<\/p>\n

Leavitt led the men\u2019s team to the Big East title four times, from 2022-25. His leading pupils included Drew Carbone<\/strong>, the four-time Big East Championships Most Outstanding Male Swimmer and a qualifier for Olympic Trials in 2021. In 2024, Georgetown provided the Big East Championships Co-Most Outstanding Male Swimmer (Jack Januario<\/strong>) and Co-Most Outstanding Male Diver (Nico Santiago<\/strong>), plus three Most Outstanding Female Divers from 2017-20.<\/p>\n

Leavitt and his staff were named the Big East Men\u2019s Coaching Staff of the Year three times, in 2019, 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cJack Leavitt redefined Georgetown\u2019s swimming & diving programs in his nine years on the Hilltop,\u201d athletic director Lee Reed<\/strong> said. \u201cHis passion and dedication to the program built a championship culture that I am confident will continue upon his departure because of the groundwork he laid. While losing a coach of his caliber is difficult, what we will truly miss is the personality he brought to our department. Jack is a talented coach, a mentor and a role model for so many. Personally, I know many in our department will miss him as both a colleague and a friend.
