Albiero\u2019s testimony emphasized the need for thoughtful policies that maintain opportunities for student-athletes while balancing the broader changes occurring in college athletics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In his opening statement, Albiero thanked the committee members for their time and shared his firsthand experiences in college athletics as an athlete, coach, parent, and spouse. He underscored the pivotal moment college athletics is facing and the need for Congressional support, stating, \u201cI would ask that any Congressional support also offer protections for the 78% of student-athletes who do not compete in football and basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The hearing addressed key issues, including the impact of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policies, athlete compensation models, and the potential consequences of ongoing litigation affecting NCAA programs. With the recent loss of multiple collegiate swimming and diving programs, the CSCAA remains committed to working alongside lawmakers, athletic departments, and national governing bodies to safeguard the future of the sport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Collegiate swimming and diving play a vital role in developing world-class athletes, fostering academic and athletic excellence, and providing student-athletes with life-changing opportunities,\u201d said CSCAA Executive Director <strong>Samantha Barany<\/strong>. \u201cAs we navigate the evolving landscape of college sports, it is critical that we protect these programs to ensure they remain a cornerstone of Olympic development and student success.
