But even among that, the field for the women\u2019s 100 backstroke will stand out prominently Saturday night, the final evening of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Four members of the Paris Olympic final and five total Olympians are in line to contest the final, after prelims completed Saturday morning. Leading the way is Olympic silver medalist <strong>Regan Smith,<\/strong> who led out bronze medalist <strong>Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> in prelims. Both Smith and <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> on the men\u2019s side face quick-fire doubles Saturday night, if they go through with the full program.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-swim-series-westmont-beatriz-dizotti-aiden-hammer-open-with-mile-wins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wednesday Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-swim-series-westmont-shaine-casas-achieves-impressive-double-summer-mcintosh-blasts-204-00-200-fly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thursday Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-series-westmont-day-three-finals-summer-mcintosh-blasts-u-s-open-record-in-400-im-shaine-casas-continues-roll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Friday Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2025\/2025-tyr-pro-swim-series01-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 100 backstroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> led the way Saturday morning with a time of 58.75. She\u2019s the world record holder in this event at 57.13. Second was <strong>Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> in 59.60. Those two were on the Olympic podium in Paris last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Joining them in the final are Canadians <strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong> and <strong>Ingrid Wilm,<\/strong> both Olympic finalists in this event. Masse went 59.95 to get the third seed, Wilm 1:00.94 for sixth. Olympian <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> was fourth in 1:00.19, with American teen <strong>Rylee Erisman<\/strong> continuing a solid meet in fifth.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 100 backstroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Tommy Janton<\/strong> led the way in prelims with a time of 54.31 to get himself in the middle of the pool Saturday night. He\u2019ll be flanked by <strong>Shaine Casas,<\/strong> who went 54.81, and <strong>Jack Dolan,<\/strong> in 55.29. Canadian international <strong>Cole Pratt<\/strong> was fourth in 55.47.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 200 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> was back at it Saturday morning \u2013 \u201cit\u201d being dominating. The Olympic gold medalist went 2:25.40, the top seed by nearly 3.5 seconds. German international <strong>Anna Elendt<\/strong> was second in 2:28.88, while Canadian <strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> dipped her toe into a different event for her, in third in 2:29.57.<\/p>\n<p>Brazilian <strong>Gabriele Silva<\/strong> finished fourth, with Canada\u2019s <strong>Sophie Angus<\/strong> fifth and <strong>Isabelle Odgers<\/strong> sixth. <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> wasn\u2019t entered in the 200 breast.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 200 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>AJ Pouch<\/strong> led a somewhat limited men\u2019s field by a wide margin, his time of 2:13.34 making him the top seed by 3.5 seconds. Canadian <strong>Apollo Hess<\/strong> finished second in 2:16.91. Only seven guys broke 2:20, among them <strong>Josh Bey<\/strong> in third.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 100 butterfly<\/h4>\n<p>In her second swim in the hour, <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> went 58.45 to grab the top seed in the 100 fly. Only three swimmers broke a minute, with <strong>Lily Price<\/strong> second in 58.77 and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> continuing a quick meet by taking third in 59.39 as a warmup to the 50 free later in the session. Even so, it\u2019s a best time for her in an event she rarely contests, the previous best a 1:00.81 from the TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Bloomington in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s <strong>Matea Gigovic<\/strong> was fourth in 1:00.29, ahead of countrywoman <strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> in her second event on the trot. <strong>Madi Mintenko<\/strong> earned a spot in the A final by going 1:00.69. <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> was 10th in 1:01.36, and a busy <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> was 13th.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 100 butterfly<\/h4>\n<p>On the back end of his double, <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> went 52.41, exactly 0.5 seconds up on <strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong> for the top spot. <strong>Kamal Muhammad<\/strong> finished third in 53.05, while the A final will have some international flair thanks to Brazilian <strong>Kayky Mota<\/strong> (fourth in 53.24) and Argentine <strong>Ulises Cazau<\/strong> (sixth in 53.62).<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 200 individual medley<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> put together a composed swim to grab the top seed in the 200 IM, going 2:13.17. The reigning Olympic champion is the top seed in an event that Paris Olympic silver medalist Kate Douglass was not entered in.<\/p>\n<p>Getting her three-for-a-quarter quota was <strong>Mary-Sophie<\/strong> <strong>Harvey,<\/strong> who finished second in 2:13.73. Also in that boat was <strong>Rhyan White,<\/strong> who went 2:18.00 for fifth. (It\u2019s a best time for White, though her best was from 2017 and she hasn\u2019t had a recorded swim in the event since 2020.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isabel Ivey<\/strong> is the third seed in 2:14.12. <strong>Teagan<\/strong> <strong>O\u2019Dell<\/strong> was fourth, with fellow teen <strong>Kelsey Zhang<\/strong> seventh and <strong>Maya Hetland<\/strong> ninth, poised to capitalize on the first A final scratch. <strong>Madi Mintenko<\/strong> finished 12th.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 200 individual medley<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> led the way in prelims with a time of 2:01.55 that makes him the top seed. <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> was second in 2:02.88, with <strong>Grant House<\/strong> third. <strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong> finished fourth in 2:03.52.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matheo Mateos<\/strong> finished fifth.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 50 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>While everyone else is widening their programs, <strong>Kasia Wasick<\/strong> is doing one thing and one thing well. The Polish veteran went 24.81 to grab the top seed in the 50 free. <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> was second in 24.85 for what should be an intriguing finals showdown. Aussie <strong>Meg Harris<\/strong> was third in 25.07, followed by <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> in 25.11.<\/p>\n<p>Wasick was 17 when <strong>Rylee Erisman<\/strong> was born, but the teen went 25.22 for fifth, just ahead of <strong>Erika Connolly,<\/strong> 11 years Erisman&#8217;s senior. <strong>Ekaterina Nikonova<\/strong> and <strong>Lilly Price<\/strong> tied for seventh.<\/p>\n<p>The B final has some names, too. Among them are <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> in 10th, <strong>Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> in 12th, <strong>Ingrid Wilm<\/strong> in 13th and <strong>Teagan O\u2019Dell<\/strong> in 16th.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 50 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>The star power in the men\u2019s 50 free is, well, not quite that of the women\u2019s. But on top of the pile was <strong>Mikel Schreuders<\/strong> of Aruba in 22.26. His fellow Sun Devil <strong>Jack Dolan<\/strong> was second. Canadian <strong>Yuri Kisil<\/strong> was third, ahead of one-time Notre Dame commit <strong>Shane Eckler.<\/strong> Singaporean <strong>Jonathan Tan<\/strong> finished fifth, with <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> sixth in 22.83.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s some drama, with <strong>Hunter Armstrong<\/strong> and <strong>Robin Yeboah<\/strong> tying for eighth in 22.84, which will require a swim-off. <strong>Grant House<\/strong> was 10th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TYR Pro Swim Series: Olympic Showdown Set in 100 Back The TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Westmont is not short on big names and thus big matchups.
