{"id":606398,"date":"2025-03-06T10:42:12","date_gmt":"2025-03-06T17:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=606398"},"modified":"2025-03-06T10:42:12","modified_gmt":"2025-03-06T17:42:12","slug":"tyr-pro-series-westmont-day-2-prelims-showdowns-set-up-in-womens-breaststroke-butterfly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-series-westmont-day-2-prelims-showdowns-set-up-in-womens-breaststroke-butterfly\/","title":{"rendered":"TYR Pro Series Westmont Day 2 Prelims: Showdowns Set Up in Women&#8217;s Breaststroke, Butterfly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025 TYR Pro Swim Series began Day 2 from Westmont with a full prelims session of 10 events &#8211; five men and five women.<\/p>\n<p>The session set up some interesting head-to-head battles in the finals, especially the women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke and 200 butterfly.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2025-tyr-pro-swim-series-westmont-psych-sheet-usa-senior-national-2025-03-05.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psych Sheet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2025\/2025-tyr-pro-swim-series01-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>TYR Pro Swim Series: 100 Free<\/h2>\n<p>Olympic champion <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 free with a 54.17 just ahead of <strong>Rylee Erisman<\/strong> (54.19).<\/p>\n<p>Canadian stars <strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong> (third, 55.08) and Olympic champion <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> (sixth, 55.37) also made the final along with <strong>Meg Harris<\/strong> (55.12),<strong> Madi Mintenk<\/strong>o (55.32), <strong>Beata<\/strong> <strong>Nelson<\/strong> (55.69) and Polish Olympic medalist <strong>Kasia Wasick<\/strong> (55.78).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s event, <strong>Grant House<\/strong> grabbed the top seed in 49.17, followed by <strong>Mikel Schreuders<\/strong> (49.37) and Olympian<strong> Shane Casas<\/strong> (49.63).<\/p>\n<h2>TYR Pro Swim Series: 100 Breaststroke<\/h2>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke prelims went as one could have predicted.<\/p>\n<p>It was a very close three-way race with Olympian <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> (1:07.13), Texas star<strong> Anna Elendt<\/strong> (1:07.85) and Olympic Champion <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> (1:07.90).<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s prelims saw<strong> Michael Andrew<\/strong> take the top seed by a full second, finishing in 1:00.65.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Garret Clasen<\/strong> (1:01.78) and <strong>AJ Pouch<\/strong> (1:02.32) followed.<\/p>\n<h2>TYR Pro Swim Series: 50 Backstroke<\/h2>\n<p>In a pretty loaded event, Canadian Olympic medalist <strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong> took the top seed in 27.48, just ahead of U.S. Olympic medalists <strong>Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> (27.68), <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> (27.87) and <strong>Rhyan<\/strong> <strong>White<\/strong> (28.01).<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s race saw <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> doing a double and taking the top seed in 24.93 ahead of <strong>Tommy Janton<\/strong> (25.01), <strong>Jack Dolan (<\/strong>25.51) and <strong>Michael Andrew (<\/strong>25.55), also doing a double.<\/p>\n<h2>TYR Pro Swim Series: 200 Butterfly<\/h2>\n<p>As expected, Canadian Olympic champion <strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> and U.S. Olympian <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> finished 1-2 in the prelims.<\/p>\n<p>But McIntosh put together a 2:06.40, well ahead of Smith&#8217;s 2:10.56, though who knows what either has in the tank for the finals since both were so far ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Klinker<\/strong> was the third seed in 2:12.09.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s race, <strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong> claimed the top seed in 1:58.73, just ahead of <strong>Patrick Branon<\/strong> (1:58.93).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>TYR Pro Swim Series: 400 Free<\/h2>\n<p>Pulling an impressive double, <strong>Madi Mintenko<\/strong> took the top seed in the 400 free to take the top seed in 4:13.38.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maria Costa<\/strong> was next at 4:13.54.<\/p>\n<p>Canada Olympian <strong>Mary-Sophie Harvey<\/strong>, also pulling a double, grabbed the fourth seed in 4:15.64.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s race saw Australian<strong> Samuel Short t<\/strong>ake the top seed in 3:47.01 ahead of <strong>Guilherme<\/strong> <strong>Costa<\/strong> (3:49.78) of Brazil and U.S. Olympian <strong>Carson Foster (<\/strong>3:50.19).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025 TYR Pro Swim Series began Day 2 from Westmont with a full prelims session of 10 events &#8211; five men and five women.
