Before the first full day of action, which will include Indiana&#8217;s extraordinary diving group of\u00a0<strong>Carson Tyler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Quentin Henninger<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Maxwell Weinrich<\/strong> in action, the team got started by taking a narrow lead in the team competition over the University of Southern California. Indiana scored 116 points Wednesday, ahead of USC at 112 and a third-place tie between Ohio State and Michigan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten Swimming Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/minnesota\/swim\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/theacc.com\/feature\/swimdive-championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Information<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More College Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>200 Medley Relay<\/h2>\n<p>The Hoosier men kicked off their meet with a statement performance in the 200 medley relay. <strong>Luke Barr<\/strong> set the tone for Indiana quickly with a 20.64 backstroke leg, and he was followed by fifth-year transfer\u00a0<strong>Brian Benzing<\/strong> on breaststroke. <strong>Finn Brooks<\/strong> was the only member of the quartet to not have the fastest split on their respective stroke, with his 19.43 coming in just behind the 19.33 of Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tyler Ray<\/strong>. But\u00a0<strong>Matt King<\/strong> hammered the anchor leg in 18.39 on the way to a time of 1:21.39.<\/p>\n<p>That mark ranks fifth in the country this season behind performances from Tennessee, Florida and Texas at last week&#8217;s SEC Championships as well as Arizona State&#8217;s effort Tuesday evening at the Big 12 meet. The Hoosiers also broke a Big 10 meet record they set last year. Interestingly, Brooks is the only returning member of that 2024 team, but he has shifted from breaststroke to butterfly in large part thanks to the arrival of Benzing, the runnerup in the 100 breaststroke at last year&#8217;s NCAA Championships while competing for Towson.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Wilkening<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ozan Kalafat<\/strong>, Ray and\u00a0<strong>Bence Szabados<\/strong> came in second at 1:22.08, inserting themselves into the national top-10 while also going under the old meet record. In the end, the Trojans came out on top and earned a Big Ten title in men&#8217;s swimming for the first time.\u00a0<strong>Krystof Chmielewski<\/strong>, a native of Poland who was the 2023 World Championships silver medalist in the 200 butterfly, entered the water in fourth place, but he split 1:31.80 to pick off his three rivals and score the win in 6:10.85.\u00a0<strong>Luke Maurer<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Oliver Sogaard-Anderson<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Ben Dillard<\/strong> handled the first three legs of the relay.<\/p>\n<p>The lead changed hands numerous times over the course of the race. Ohio State had the best leadoff leg, with\u00a0<strong>Tomas Navikonis<\/strong> going 1:31.54, but the Buckeyes fell back during legs by\u00a0<strong>Alex Metzler<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jordi Vilchez<\/strong> before\u00a0<strong>Tristan Jankovics<\/strong> came home in 1:32.24 to secure second place in 6:10.99. Michigan, the leaders entering the anchor leg, ended up just over a tenth back thanks to <strong>Gal Groumi<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eitan Ben-Shitrit<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Colin Geer<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Eduardo Moraes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana had been going for a sweep of the relays on night one and looked strong at the halfway mark after\u00a0<strong>Rafael Miroslaw<\/strong> led off before\u00a0<strong>Owen McDonald<\/strong> split 1:31.32.
