Canadian Breaststroker Gabe Mastromatteo Retires for \u2018Health Issues\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gabe Mastromatteo,<\/strong> Canada\u2019s top male breaststroke for the last two Olympic cycles, announced a quasi-retirement on social media last week.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old cited, \u201ccompounding health issues\u201d as a reason to step back from racing. He stopped short of a full retirement declaration, but is stepping back from the sport.<\/p>\n

Mastromatteo made the announcement on social media.<\/p>\n
