Photo Courtesy: Adam Crane\/Salt Diaries (Swimming Australia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a controlled race, Lee (53.33.6) made his move in the last lap to slip past Noosa\u2019, QLD\u2019s <strong>Thomas Raymond<\/strong> (53:34.90) and Melbourne Vicentre VIC\u2019s Nic<strong> Sloman <\/strong>(53:38.40).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To qualify for Singapore (Worlds) doesn\u2019t feel quite real \u2026 and to now have that 5km spot is awesome. It&#8217;s really just about getting in the best prep that I can and getting as fit as I can because when you&#8217;re racing a program that&#8217;s really busy \u2026 you want to get fit to be able to back it up time and time again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have never won an (individual) \u00a0World Championship and international experience in open water is so important &#8211; the more you race it, the more you learn about your competitors, different strategies and race conditions. Getting amongst it is just so critical for this sport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEuropeans are so passionate about distance sports, like cycling with the Tour de France for example. Being amongst that and their mindsets of endurance, plus getting to race my competitors in training and on the weekend has been invaluable. It&#8217;s given me so much confidence coming into these sorts of events now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swimming Australia has revealed that more than 1000 swimmers competed over the four days of the Australian Open Water Championships and OceanSwim Festival, with near perfect conditions on the final day of racing with water temperature hovering around 24 degrees and Generation Next showcasing their talent.<\/p>\n<p>With Dolphins new head coach Fernando Possenti looking on; age group swimmers\u00a0<strong>Ella Reynolds, Chloe Brodrick, Eleanor Flowers, Amelie Smith, Madison Brand, Piper Cameron, Thomas Dreverman, Daniel Carter, Luke Higgs, Riley Meares<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Hunter Mackenzie<\/strong>\u00a0all impressed.<\/p>\n<p>In multi-class events; S19 athlete\u00a0<strong>Ky Millican<\/strong> (Goodlife, QLD) opened the year with a win in the men\u2019s 14&amp;over 5km and <strong>Amie Holwill<\/strong>\u00a0(S19) winning the women\u2019s multi-class 14&amp;over.<\/p>\n<p>For Sunshine Coast athlete Millican, he has started the year as he finished it.
