THE IUPUI swim teams had a tough time in the pool Friday night when they visited conference foe Valparaiso for a dual meet. Valparaiso&#39;s depth enabled them to defeat the IUPUI men 113-91 and the women 128-77.<\/p>\n<p>Valparaiso led from start to finish on both sides. The IUPUI men&#39;s team moved within a point at 18-17, but could get no closer as the Crusaders pulled away. Despite their losses, the men and women did have a few bright spots.<\/p>\n<p>In only his third collegiate meet, freshman Brian Wheeler (Crown Point, Ind.\/Crown Point\/University College) brook a 2-1\/2 year old school record in the 1000 free. His time of 10:06.25 shaved .14 seconds off of the previous mark held by 2003 graduate John Winter. Wheeler remained undefeated in the freestyle distances this year, picking up his third win in as many meets in the 500 freestyle (4:54.37) to go with his two straight wins in the 1000.<\/p>\n<p>Senior A.J. Parks&#39; (Bremen, Ind.\/Bremen\/School of Technology) torrid streak continued as he again swept the freestyle sprint events. Parks, the Mid-Con Swimming Athlete of the Week, has not lost an individual race this fall and is a perfect 6-0 on the year. He won the 50 free in a time of 21.61 and the 100 free in a Mid-Con season-best time of 48.19.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Rob Trame (Syracuse, Ind.\/Wawasee\/University College) had a team season-best time of 2:06.18 in the 200 IM, while freshman Chris Hutchison (Indianapolis, Ind.\/Decatur Central\/School of Engineering) set a team season-best mark of 56.36 in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>The quartet of Parks, senior Grant Anderson (Indianapolis, Ind.\/Pike\/School of Physical Education &#038; Tourism Management), sophomore Damien Vittorio (Indianapolis, Ind.\/Franklin Central\/University College) and freshman Tim Balko Crown Point, Ind.\/Crown Point\/School of Science) won the 200 free relay in 1:31.47.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson, Trame, Hutchison and Wheeler had a team season-best time of 1:41.21 in the 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomores Kristen Krey (Decatur, Ind.\/Bellmont\/University College) and Lindsay Corn (Indianapolis, Ind.\/Roncalli\/School of Technology) each were double winners for the Jaguars. Krey won the 50 free in 25.76 and the 100 back in 1:02.83. Corn swept the 100 free (56.23) and 200 free (2:02.45) events.<\/p>\n<p>Season-best times were posted in each of the two relays. The 200 medley team of Krey, junior Clare Helphinstine (Plainfield, Ind.\/Plainfield\/School of Medicine), junior Jessica Schlottman (Mt. Vernon, Ind.\/Mt. Vernon\/School of Informatics) and sophomore Kelly Miller (Aurora, Ohio\/Twinsburg\/University College) finished with a time of 1:56.65. Corn, Miller, junior Lindsey Huntsman (New Palestine, Ind.\/New Palestine\/School of Education) and freshman Amy Rowe (Indianapolis, Ind.\/Franklin Central\/School of Liberal Arts) covered the 200
