Budapest 2024, Day 4 Finals: Isabel Gose Golden; Jillian Cox Gets Bronze from Morning Heat in 1,500<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 1,500 freestyle is a marathon in the pool, but it was nothing compared to the wait for Jillian Cox<\/strong> Friday in Budapest.<\/p>\n

Isabel Gose<\/strong> came in with the fastest time in the final of the women\u2019s 1500 free at the World Short-Course Championships, but Cox\u2019s patience paid off with her time from the morning beating all but two in the fastest heat at night to get bronze.<\/p>\n

Gose clocked in at 15:24.69 to secure gold, nearly five and a half seconds up on Simona Quadarella<\/strong> of Italy. But Cox\u2019s time of 15:41.29 from the morning \u2014 despite her miscounting and finishing to her feet instead of her hands \u2014 slotted into the canyon between the finish of Quadarella and France\u2019s Anastasiia Kirpichnikova<\/strong> for the 19-year-old American to grab a bronze medal.<\/p>\n
