Marchand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/leon-marchand-withdraws-from-world-short-course-championships-exhausted-needs-to-step-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">isn&#8217;t present in Budapest this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Casas had owned the sixth-fastest time in history entering the meet, going 1:50.37 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-cup-toronto-shaine-casas-goes-no-3-all-time-effort-in-200-im-siobhan-haughey-shines-in-200-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Aquatics World Cup stop in Toronto in 2022<\/a>. He would finish fourth in that event, a quarter second off the podium, at the 2022 World Championships in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alberto Razzetti<\/strong> lowered his Italian record to 1:50.88 for silver with <strong>Finlay Knox<\/strong> replicating his bronze of Melbourne 2022 in 1:50.90, a Canadian standard.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2024-short-course-world-championships-entry-list-international-elite-2024-12-10.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Budapest Entry List<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2024\/world-aquatics-swimming-championships-25m-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Budapest Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/budapest-2024-day-1-prelims-mcintosh-ponti-get-short-course-worlds-underway\/\">Budapest Day 1 Prelims Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Casas has long used short-course as a springboard for achievement in the longer pool. The Californian, who turns 25 on Christmas Day, is up to 11 career medals at Short-Course Wold Championships, with six in Abu Dhabi in 2021 and four in Melbourne. His individual gold matches the 100 back gold in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Casas parlayed his strong short-course form into an Olympic berth last summer, qualifying for the 200 IM <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-olympic-trials-carson-foster-rallies-for-victory-in-200-im-shaine-casas-realizes-olympic-dream\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a career-defining swim at U.S. Olympic Trials<\/a>.
