Duncan Scott<\/strong> was named Sportsperson of the Year at the Scottish Sports Awards<\/strong> after becoming Scotland’s most decorated Olympian following gold and silver at Paris 2024.<\/p>\n The 27-year-old swam the anchor leg<\/a> of the 4×200 free relay to guide the Great Britain quartet to a historic victory at La Defense Arena as the same four men combined to retain the title they won in Tokyo three years earlier.<\/p>\n Scott returned to the pool to clinch silver in the 200IM<\/a> for the second straight Games. That took to eight his overall Olympic medal haul, one more than cyclist Sir Chris Hoy<\/strong> who announced last month he has terminal cancer.<\/p>\n Scott, who was also named Male Athlete of the Year at the ceremony at the Glasgow Science Centre and IMAX, was his customary modest self in Paris<\/a> when spoken of in the same breath as Hoy, saying: \u201cThis is my third Olympic Games, but I don\u2019t think I should ever be compared to Sir Chris Hoy. It\u2019s pretty cool in terms of numbers, but he\u2019s got quite a few better colours than I do.\u201d<\/p>\n
