October 19.  THE Florida Gators&#39; (or is that the Crocodiles&#39;?) men&#39;s and women&#39;s swimming team won 15 events Saturday en route to claiming first place at the Florida Invitational held at the Stephen C. O&#39;Connell Center. <\/p>\n<p>The Florida women placed first (238), followed by Michigan (92), FAU (74) and Indian River Community College (32). The Gator men finished first (306), followed by Indian River (61) and FAU (59).<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.) and Jan Wolfgarten (Fankfurt, Germany) led the men&#39;s team by winning two events as Florida placed first in all 10 events to finish with 306 points.<\/p>\n<p>The Gators dominated the 400-yard individual medley, taking the top 10 spots. Wolfgarten took first in a time of 4:00.56. <\/p>\n<p>Florida also excelled in the 200-yard freestyle as the Gators accounted for the top seven finishers. Lochte won the event with an NCAA provisional mark of 1:37.44. Lochte also won the 100-yard backstroke in 49.77.<\/p>\n<p>Florida took the top five spots in the 1,650 freestyle. Wolfgarten won the event with a provisional qualifying time of 15:24.89. Junior Scott Kaufmann (Sparks, Nev.) was the runner up, touching the wall in 15:38.50.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Kris Wiebeck (Tampa, Fla.) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.90), while junior Adam Sioui (Ontario, Canada) took top honors in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.09.<\/p>\n<p>Florida took six of the top seven spots in the 100-yard free, led by senior Carlos Jayme (Goias, Brazil), who won the event in a time of 45.13.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Ansel Tjin-A-Tam (Paramaribo, Suriname) helped Florida take the top four places in the 100-yard breast by winning the event in a time of 57.75.<\/p>\n<p>Florida also won both relay events on the afternoon. Junior Gabriel Mangabeira (Piratininga, Brazil), Sioui, junior Will Ratliff (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) and Jayme won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.10. Sophomore Nick Borreca (Honolulu, Hawai&#39;i), freshman Eren Onurlu (Istanbul, Turkey), Wiebeck and senior Scott Schultz (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.19.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#39;s team tallied 10 NCAA provisional qualifying times and one automatic qualifying time in their victory over Michigan, FAU and Indian River Community College.<\/p>\n<p>The Gators swept three events (200-yard free, 400-yard IM, 100-yard<br \/>\nfree) and had five first place finishes. UF also had 17 top-three finishes and 18 Gators scored.<\/p>\n<p>Florida was strong in the 400-yard IM as six Gators scored in the event. Senior Sara McLarty (DeLand, Fla.) finished first with an automatic qualifying time of 4:13.37. Sophomore Vipa Bernhardt (Bad Hersfeld,<br \/>\nGermany) finished second with a provisional time of 4:19:18, and freshman Ashley Carusone (Gainesville, Fla.) came in third with a provisional time of 4:20:60.<\/p>\n<p>The Gators had a solid performance in the 200-yard freestyle with six Gators scoring and three had provisional qualifying times. Senior Jaime Ellis (Spring, Texas) finished first (1:48.97) and McLarty took second with a time of 1:49.45. Redshirt junior Janelle Atkinson (Jamaica) finished third (1:50.36).<\/p>\n<p>UF swept the 100-yard freestyle with Ellis leading the way with a first-place finish (51.34). Senior Chantal Gibney (Dublin, Ireland) finished second as she touched the wall in 51.77. Sophomore Mary Uhle (Sankt Ingbert, Germany) rounded out the top three (52.37).<\/p>\n<p>Florida took the top five spots in the 1,650-yard freestyle and had four provisional qualifying times. Carusone won the event with a provisional qualifying time of 16:42.01. Sophomore Jamie Tannhauser (Seattle, Wash.) finished second with a provisional time of 16:43.81. Junior Meredith Green (Chapel Hill, N.C.) came in third with a provisional time of 16:46.51 and freshman Katie Ball (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished fourth with a provisional time of 16:50.25.<\/p>\n<p>Other event winners for Florida included Gibney in the 50-yard freestyle<br \/>\n(24.05) and Bernhardt in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.30).<\/p>\n<p>The women&#39;s team returns to action Oct. 23 when Florida travels to Arkansas with the meet schedule for 6 p.m. The men next hit the pool Oct. 30 at Minnesota for a 4 p.m. start.<\/p>\n<p>Women&#39;s Team Scores<br
