{"id":600710,"date":"2024-11-30T21:20:41","date_gmt":"2024-12-01T04:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=600710"},"modified":"2024-12-01T06:44:19","modified_gmt":"2024-12-01T13:44:19","slug":"u-s-olympians-drew-kibler-rhyan-white-to-race-at-u-s-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-olympians-drew-kibler-rhyan-white-to-race-at-u-s-open\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Olympians Drew Kibler, Rhyan White to Race at U.S. Open (Psych Sheets)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>U.S. Olympians Drew Kibler, Rhyan White to Race at U.S. Open<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Open will fill its regularly-scheduled place on the American swimming calendar the weekend following Thanksgiving, but the meet will take place in short course yards this year, and it will be lacking its signature star-power as most top American swimmers either continue post-Olympic breaks from competition or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-announces-roster-for-upcoming-world-short-course-swimming-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prepare for the upcoming Short Course World Championships<\/a>, which will begin days later in Budapest.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2024-us-open-psych-sheet-usa-senior-national-2024-12-04.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to view the full psych sheet<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The two most prominent swimmers entered are U.S. Olympians\u00a0<strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Rhyan White<\/strong>. Kibler competed in the 800 freestyle relay for the U.S. at the past two Olympic Games and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/paris-olympics-day-4-finals-great-britain-retain-mens-4x200-free-title-with-143-anchor-by-duncan-scott\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earned silver in the event in Paris<\/a>. He is slated to return to racing in Greensboro, with the former Texas swimmer now representing the New York Athletic Club entered with long course times in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>White, a finalist in both backstroke events at the Tokyo Olympics, ended up fifth in both events at this year&#8217;s Olympic Trials as the depth of American women&#8217;s backstroking denied her a return trip to the Games. White, now training at NC State, is entered in her signature backstroke races plus the butterfly events and the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Other accomplished swimmers on the psych sheet include 400 IM Olympic Trials finalist <strong>Danny Berlitz<\/strong> plus a pair of semifinalists in Texas A&amp;M freestyler\u00a0<strong>Chloe Stepanek<\/strong> and North Carolina breaststroker\u00a0<strong>Skyler Smith<\/strong>. The meet will take place in Greensboro, N.C., over four days, beginning with relays Wednesday evening followed by individual events beginning Thursday and following the lineup utilized at the NCAA Championships.
