During Thursday&#8217;s finals session, Crooks swam the third-fastest 50 free relay split ever followed by a 100 butterfly performance that moved him to No. 6 all-time.<\/p>\n<p>Anchoring the Vols 200 medley relay, Crooks swam a time of 17.57, which has only been surpassed by\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> (17.30) and\u00a0<strong>Jonny Kulow<\/strong> (17.56) on one occasion each. The team of\u00a0<strong>Harrison Lierz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kevin Houseman<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gui Caribe<\/strong> and Crooks finished in 1:21.71, quicker than a team including Crooks and Caribe (albeit in reverse order) swam on the way to a fifth-place finish at last year&#8217;s NCAA Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Not long after, Crooks won the men&#8217;s 100 fly in 43.77, knocking a quarter-second off his previous best time of 44.04. The only swimmers to ever go faster are Dressel,\u00a0<strong>Josh Liendo<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Youssef Ramadan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Andrei Minakov<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Joseph Schooling<\/strong>, although it&#8217;s worth noting that three of those men (Liendo, Ramadan and Minakov) are all still active college swimmers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/utsports.com\/news\/2024\/11\/18\/swimming-diving-preview-swim-dive-set-for-annual-tennessee-invitational.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Information<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jordan-crooks-opens-tennessee-invitational-with-130-00-200-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tuesday Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tennessee-invitational-gretchen-walsh-swims-second-fastest-time-ever-in-50-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wednesday Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the 100 fly, Virginia&#8217;s <strong>Spencer Nicholas<\/strong> swam an impressive time of 44.41 to take second, leaving the freshman just outside the all-time top-20 in the event while notching a time that would have made the A-final at last year&#8217;s NCAAs. Caribe took third in 45.18.<\/p>\n<p>The Vols also picked up a win in the 200 free, with\u00a0<strong>Nikoli Blackman<\/strong> putting forth a time of 1:32.12 to finish just ahead of Vieginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sebastian Sergile<\/strong> (1:32.38), with fellow Cavalier\u00a0<strong>David King<\/strong> third (1:33.19). Lierz finished six tenths ahead of the field in the 100 backstroke, clocking 45.25 to beat out Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Aikins<\/strong> (45.84) and Tennessee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lamar Taylor<\/strong> (46.32). Tennessee&#8217;s <strong>Bennett Greene<\/strong> won 1-meter diving with a score of 361.15, followed by Kentucky&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sam Duncan<\/strong> (348.70) and Tennessee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nick Stone<\/strong> (342.15).<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Levi Sandidge<\/strong> clocked 3:42.53 for the win in the men&#8217;s 400 IM, beating out Tennessee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tony Laurito<\/strong> (3:44.06) and Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Styczen<\/strong> (3:44.95).
