In recent years, most top-ranked teams have shifted their season schedules to swim their main midseason taper meet prior to swimmers heading home for a brief Thanksgiving vacation. That pattern continues in 2024, with almost every program heading to a destination like Austin, Columbus, Knoxville or Greensboro in the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>Of the <a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Women-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">women\u2019s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Men-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">men\u2019s<\/a> teams who finished in the top-15 at last year\u2019s NCAA Championships, only Cal is idle this week, with the Golden Bears opting to race after Thanksgiving at the Minnesota Invite. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The top women\u2019s clash of the week will take place in Austin, with two of the country\u2019s most decorated teams highlighting the competition. The Longhorns have finished as national runnerup in each of the last three seasons, with the 2022 and 2023 results coming at Stanford\u2019s expense. Now, returning to the Cardinal roster is <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong>, fresh off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/how-torri-huske-rebounded-from-disappointments-to-win-gold-become-multi-event-star-for-u-s-in-paris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a five-medal, three-gold performance at the Paris Olympics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Huske is unlikely to face any serious competition in her main events as she gears up to pursue her first individual NCAA title, and we will also get a glimpse at where swimmers like <strong>Aurora Roghair<\/strong>, <strong>Lucy Bell<\/strong> and <strong>Caroline Bricker<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/college-swimming-check-in-unexpected-names-leading-womens-national-rankings-entering-midseason\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stack up nationally<\/a>. The Longhorns, meanwhile, will hope their strong sophomore class can continue to step forward to supplement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/underwater-kicking-champ-and-big-personality-emma-sticklen-starting-strong-in-fifth-year-at-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong><\/a>, Olympian <strong>Erin Gemmell<\/strong> and rising distance swimmer <strong>Jillian Cox<\/strong>. Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> will swim her first big competition since taking fourth in the 200-meter back at the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas men will not have any significant competition this time. We know what <strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> and<strong> Luke Hobson<\/strong> are capable of, but this meet will give a better glimpse into how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/college-swimming-check-in-the-non-superstar-men-in-pole-position\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Will Modglin<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Nate Germonprez<\/strong>, <strong>Rex Maurer<\/strong> and the rest of the team stacks up as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/could-bob-bowman-and-university-of-texas-propel-u-s-men-in-future-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new head coach <strong>Bob Bowman<\/strong> pursues a big jump in year one<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Tennessee Invitational, Wednesday 11\/20 through Friday 11\/22<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s teams: Virginia (1st), Tennessee (4th)<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s teams: Tennessee (6th)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Volunteers will certainly have their stars out in force, with sprinters <strong>Jordan Crooks<\/strong> and <strong>Gui Caribe<\/strong> highlighting on the men\u2019s side while <strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong> and <strong>Camille Spink<\/strong> race for the women, but the focus here will be on the Virginia women, specifically <strong>Gretchen Walsh<\/strong>. As with any time the younger Walsh sister races in college events, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/get-ready-for-gretchen-walsh-show-at-short-course-world-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">records could fall in any event she races<\/a> as she continues to push the sprint boundaries. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s teams: Florida (3rd), Georgia (13th)<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s teams: Florida (3rd), Georgia (11th)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The attention here will be on Florida, with the Gators coming off duel third-place finishes at last year\u2019s national championship meets. <strong>Bella Sims<\/strong> will try to prove her disappointing Olympic Trials performances were a fluke as she looks to get back to her two-national-title form from last year\u2019s NCAAs, and the Florida men <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-mens-sprinters-remain-a-force-this-college-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">should continue to show out in the sprint events and relays<\/a>, with <strong>Josh Liendo<\/strong>, <strong>Adam Chaney<\/strong>, <strong>Julian Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Jonny Marshall<\/strong> among the main players.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>NC State Invitational (Greensboro), Thursday 11\/21 through Saturday 11\/23<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s teams: NC State (=9th)<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s teams: Arizona State (1st), NC State (5th), Virginia Tech (9th)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The best men\u2019s competition of the week will likely take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/even-after-massive-changes-arizona-state-men-still-have-talented-core-for-title-defense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the new-look Sun Devils<\/a>, defending last year\u2019s national title under new head coach <strong>Herbie Behm<\/strong>, race against a strong Wolfpack team. Both of these squads have standouts, most notably 200 fly national-title winners <strong>Ilya Kharun<\/strong> (ASU) and <strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong> (NC State), but both teams are loaded with sprint depth. Meanwhile, the NC State women will have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/erika-pelaez-leah-shackley-impressively-launch-into-college-careers-at-nc-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Erika Pelaez<\/strong> and <strong>Leah Shackley<\/strong><\/a> racing at an invitational for the first time.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Ohio State Invitational, Thursday 11\/21 through Saturday 11\/23<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s teams: Louisville (6th), Indiana (7th), Ohio State (=9th)<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s teams: Indiana (4th), Ohio State (13th), Louisville (15th)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Another deep meet in Columbus will feature <strong>Gabi Albiero<\/strong> and the Louisville sprinters as well as an Indiana men\u2019s team that could be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/indiana-men-to-scare-favorites-this-season-thanks-to-veterans-and-transfers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the best <strong>Ray Looze<\/strong> has ever assembled<\/a>.
