Her competitive career now in the rearview mirror following an exceptional career, Smith is eager to embrace opportunities outside of the pool, while also contributing to the sport in which she emerged as a multi-time Olympic champion. Recently, the South African star &#8211; whose uplifting personality is contagious &#8211; joined the Social Kick Podcast to discuss her career, among other topics.<\/p>\n<p>Smith spoke with Social Kick hosts Bryan Lundquist, Luke Paddington and John Mullen and reviewed her Hall of Fame-worthy career. The Olympic champion in the 200-meter breaststroke at the Olympic Games in Toyko in 2021, Smith returned to the top of the Olympic podium last summer, this time behind a victory in the 100 breaststroke. Shortly after that triumph, Smith announced her decision to retire, albeit while retaining connections to the sport in which she flourished.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her Olympic achievements, Smith&#8217;s Social Kick interview touched on the difficulties that frequently arise as an athlete representing South Africa.
