The Bruins had 13 event wins en route to a 189-106 win over Arizona in the squad&#8217;s first dual meet of the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins started off the session strong, finishing in first and second place in the 400 Medley Relay. The UCLA &#8216;A&#8217; team of <strong>Claudia Yovanovich, Eva Carlson, Emma Harvey,<\/strong> and <strong>Gizem Guvenc<\/strong> finished in first place with a time of 3:33.33. The Bruins&#8217; &#8216;B&#8217; team of <strong>Rosie Murphy, Karolina Piechowicz, Joanie Cash<\/strong>, and <strong>Sarah Bennetts<\/strong> touched in second place with a time of 3:36.42. The UCLA &#8216;C&#8217; team of <strong>Mia Chang, Emma Matous, Angela Qua<\/strong>n, and <strong>Anna Wetteland<\/strong> took fifth with a time of 3:41.84.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beril Bocekler<\/strong> took UCLA&#8217;s first event win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:05.23. Guvenc followed suit in the next event, finishing first in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.48. Senior <strong>Morgan<\/strong> <strong>Hawes<\/strong> took fourth, <strong>Josie Arbuckle<\/strong> took fifth, and <strong>Ava Lachey<\/strong> finished in eighth. In the 100 backstroke, Harvey and <strong>Rosie Murphy<\/strong> took first and second place, recording times of 52.50 and 54.34 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Senior <strong>Ana Jih-Schiff<\/strong> took her first event win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.47. Piechowicz took third place in the event with a time of 1:00.22. Carlson took fourth and Bennetts took fifth in the event.<\/p>\n<p>On a day when UCLA honored 13 graduating seniors, the Bruins swept the podium in the 200 fly, with senior <strong>Paige MacEachern<\/strong> taking first place in a time of 1:58.26. Chang took second place in 2:00.45, and <strong>Ashley Kolessar f<\/strong>inished in third with a time of 2:01.31.<\/p>\n<p>Jih-Schiff continued her dominant performance in the 50 freestyle, winning the event in 22.79.<\/p>\n<p>After the diving break, the Bruins continued to find success in the pool. Guvenc won the 100 free in 49.21 and Bennetts took second with a time of 49.80.<\/p>\n<p>UCLA recorded another sweep in the 200 back. Murphy took first with a time of 1:55.75, Chang finished second with a time of 1:59.08, and Andrews rounded out the top three with a time of 2:00.17.<\/p>\n<p>In her final individual race at Spieker Aquatics Center, Harvey took first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.56. MacEachern followed suit, winning the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.71.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins rounded out the day by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:29.12. The &#8216;A&#8217; team that won the event consisted of Harvey, Bennetts, Guvenc, and Jih-Schiff.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona&#8217;s <strong>Malia Rausch<\/strong> won the 500 free in 4:47.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brooke Early<\/strong> won 1-meter diving with 298.45 points and 3-meter with 294.90.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More College News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The No. 22 UCLA Swimming and Diving team won their first home meet of the 2024-25 season at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday.
