{"id":598674,"date":"2024-11-01T12:21:39","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T19:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=598674"},"modified":"2024-11-01T12:21:39","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T19:21:39","slug":"texas-am-swims-past-missouri-in-sec-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-am-swims-past-missouri-in-sec-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas A&#038;M Swims Past Missouri in SEC Battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas A&amp;M swimming &amp; diving program collected a pair of dual meet wins Friday morning against Missouri as both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams delivered 168-132 victories.<\/p>\n<p>Both men\u2019s and women\u2019s 400 medley relay teams picked up top times to get action started.<strong> Kaitlyn Owens, Bobbi Kennett, Olivia Theall and Chloe Stepanek<\/strong> notched a 3:33.07 and <strong>Thomas Shomper, Travis Gulledge, Connor Foote<\/strong> and <strong>Ben Scholl<\/strong> registered a 3:09.60.<\/p>\n<p>Foote (19.94) went sub-20 seconds in the 50 free for the first time this season as Scholl (20.03) and <strong>Collin Fuchs<\/strong> (20.13) recorded the next two fastest times. The same trio logged three of the top four times in the 100 free as Foote went 43.82, Fuchs clocked a 44.34 and Scholl recorded a 44.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hayden Miller<\/strong> continued her tear of dominance in the distance events by winning the 1000 free (9:44.60) and 500 free (4:43.31). The Houston native registered a 1:48.45 in the 200 free to place third as Stepanek claimed the top time with a 1:44.23. Earlier in the meet, Stepanek went 48.59 in the 100 free to place first.<\/p>\n<p>Owens added a pair of top finishes in the 100 back (53.34) and 50 free (22.66).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trey Dickey<\/strong> (9:13.50), <strong>Munzy Kabbara (<\/strong>9:13.67) and <strong>Batuhan Filiz<\/strong> (9:19.44) completed a sweep of the top three times in the 1000 free. Dickey swam the fastest time in the 500 free with a 4:26.92 as Filiz clocked a 4:29.79 to place third.<\/p>\n<p>The Aggies dominated the 400 IM by claiming the three fastest times. <strong>Giulia Goerigk<\/strong> touched the wall first with a B-cut time of 4:11.88. Kaylee Coffey took second with a 4:17.25 and <strong>Hannah<\/strong> <strong>O\u2019Leary<\/strong> tailed closely with a 4:18.36. Additionally, Goerigk placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:13.78.<\/p>\n<p>Shomper posted a B-cut time of 1:43.08 to claim the top time in the 200 back, while <strong>Tyler Hulet<\/strong> placed third with a time of 1:46.64. Hulet also took second in the 100 back with a time of 48.16.<\/p>\n<p>Theall led the Texas A&amp;M charge in the butterfly events posting a 52.44 in the 100 and a 1:55.94 in the 200. <strong>Katie Walker<\/strong> contributed a third-place time of 1:58.19 in the 200 fly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baylor Nelson<\/strong> closed out individual swimming competition after recording a B-cut time of 3:48.66 in the 400 IM. Kabbara placed second, touching the wall at 3:51.15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leonardo Garcia<\/strong> posted season-best scores of 371.10 on the 1-meter and 415.80 on the 3-meter springboards, placing first in each event. <strong>Mayson Richards<\/strong> recorded a 290.70 on the 3-meter for second place and claimed the top score on the 1-meter with a 283.58. Freshman <strong>Julie Moons<\/strong> punched her ticket to zones on the 1-meter with a score of<\/p>\n<p>Missouri&#8217;s<strong> Philipp Peschke<\/strong> won the 200 free in 1:36.55. <strong>Grant Bochenski<\/strong> won the 100 back (46.46) and 100 free (43.68). <strong>Logan Ottke<\/strong> won the 100 breast (53.27). <strong>Jan Zubik<\/strong> won the 200 fly (1:42.60) and 100 fly (46.94). <strong>Alex Oschenbein<\/strong> won the 200 breast (1:57.06).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lina Bank<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 breast (59.81) and 200 breast (2:12.17). <strong>Abbey Taute<\/strong> won the 200 back (1:56.40). <strong>Gaby Carmona<\/strong> won 3-meter diving (306.15).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More College News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas A&amp;M swimming &amp; diving program collected a pair of dual meet wins Friday morning against Missouri as both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams delivered 168-132 victories.
