The effort looks to build on the success that Howard\u2019s swimming and diving team has enjoyed in recent years<\/a>. The revival is lead by Howard junior Colin McMahon,<\/strong> who played the sport in high school.<\/p>\n

USA Water Polo is supporting the program with an initial grant of $8,000 that will provide equipment, coaching and facilities fees. Manufacturer Malmsten also donated goals.<\/p>\n

Working closely with McMahon on the project is John Abdou,<\/strong> a member of Diversity in Aquatics\u2019 board and the Associate Athlete Director of Health, Wellness and Sports Performance at University of California-Irvine.<\/p>\n

“We are thrilled to partner with Diversity In Aquatics and Howard University to re-establish their co-ed water polo team,” Abdou said in a press release<\/a>. “This initiative not only broadens student opportunities but also reinforces our shared commitment to diversifying the aquatics space and creating more inclusive, accessible pathways for all.”<\/p>\n
