Four Olympians on U.S. Women\u2019s Water Polo Roster for Pan Am Championship<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four members of the Paris Olympic squad have been included in the U.S. women\u2019s water polo roster for the 2024 Pan Am Aquatics Championship, it was announced Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goalkeeper Amanda Longan<\/strong> will join Emily Ausmus, Jovana Sekulic<\/strong> and Tara Prentice<\/strong> for the tournament, which runs Nov. 20-25 in Ibague, Colombia. The U.S. will play six games in six days, with five round-robin games and finals on Nov. 25.<\/p>\n

Longan was part of the team that won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She served as the backup to Ashleigh Johnson<\/strong> at that Games and the Paris Olympics, where the U.S. finished fourth, falling short of a medal for the first time ever.<\/p>\n

Many of the program\u2019s big names are sitting this out. That includes Maddie Musselman<\/strong>, who is dealing with the death of her husband<\/a>, and Maggie Steffens,<\/strong> who also has had to face personal struggles this year. Also absent from the pool deck will be Adam Krikorian,<\/strong> the long-time U.S. head coach, who selected the team and staff. He\u2019ll hand over head coaching duties to assistant Molly Cahill,<\/strong> with Hall of Famer Brenda Villa<\/strong> as her assistant.<\/p>\n

As Longan\u2019s backup, the U.S. adds another non-Californian to the mix<\/a> in UCLA goalie Lauren Steele,<\/strong> though the native of Old Greenwich, Conn., did attend high school at Orange Lutheran in California.<\/p>\n
