THE NCAA Swimming and Diving Committee has selected the University of Minnesota and the University Aquatic Center as the site of the 2005 NCAA Men&#39;s Swimming and Diving Championships, March 24-26. <\/p>\n<p>The 2005 tournament marks the fourth time in 11 years the Golden Gophers have hosted the national championship. The Maroon and Gold were the host institution in 1994, 1997 and 2000.<\/p>\n<p>The Aquatic Center will also host the 2005 Men&#39;s Big Ten Championships, Feb. 24-26. It is the first time that a Big Ten institution has been awarded the NCAA and league championship in the same year.<\/p>\n<p>The Aquatic Center has been the site for some of the top swimming and diving events in the country. This season, the Aquatic Center will host the USS Grand Prix and the Big Ten Women&#39;s Championships. In the past five years the Aquatic Center has hosted the 2002 US Senior Nationals and the US Open, the 1998 and 2001 Big Ten Men\u00b9s Swimming &#038; Diving Championships, the 2000 NCAA Zone Diving, the 1997 and 2000 NCAA Men\u00b9s Swimming &#038; Diving Championships, the 1999 Big Ten Women\u00b9s Swimming &#038; Diving Championships and the 1998 NCAA Women\u00b9s Swimming &#038; Diving Championships.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We are very excited and proud to be hosting both the NCAA and Big Ten Championships in the same season,&quot; head coach Dennis Dale said. &quot;It speaks volumes of our pool and the Aquatic Center staff.&quot;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS, Minn, October 15.
