It would also, when all was said and done at the Mizzou Aquatic Center, settle the meet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brady Samuels<\/strong> edged <strong>Jan Zubik<\/strong> by .05 seconds for his third win of the day in a stellar race, the points vital to Purdue edging the Tigers, 151-149, in a thriller of a nonconference meet. On the women\u2019s side, Purdue claimed a relatively comfortable 161-139 victory.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/purduesports.com\/documents\/2024\/10\/25\/Mizzou_Dual_Results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/sec-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEC Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both Samuels and Zubik were fantastic on the day for their respective black-and-gold sides. Samuels went 43.51 to win the 100 free, backing a win for teammate <strong>Idris Muhammad<\/strong> in the 50 free (20.39). Samuels had started the meet with a win in the 200 free in 1:36.67.<\/p>\n<p>Zubik dominated the 200 fly in 1:44.46, a winning margin of 3.5 seconds over teammate <strong>Matthew Judkins,<\/strong> then went 1:47.20 to edge mate <strong>Philipp Peschke<\/strong> by six tenths in another 1-2.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 fly proved a decisive separator. Samuels took it out fastest in 22.07, up by .27, but Zubik appeared poised to reel him in. He just ran out space, though, Samuels winning in 47.55 ahead of Zubik\u2019s 47.60. With <strong>Jaden Pospishil<\/strong> and Judkins third and fourth for Mizzou, Samuels\u2019s points were ever more vital. It allowed <strong>Matheo Mateos\u2019<\/strong> win in the 200 individual medley to be enough, Missouri\u2019s 1-3 result in the 400 free relay not matching their 1-2 in the 200 medley and allowing the Boilermakers to escape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patrick Broderick<\/strong> won the 1,000 free and 500 free for Purdue. Second in the latter was <strong>Evan Mackesy,<\/strong> who also took third in the 200 IM. Purdue\u2019s <strong>Ray Whittaker<\/strong> claimed a vital win in the 100 breast, going 55.50 to win by .08. <strong>Charles Lee<\/strong> made it a breaststroke sweep for Purdue in the 200.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri had the depth but not enough wins. Beyond Zubik, the only other swimming win came via <strong>Grant Bochenski<\/strong> in the 100 back (48.99). He also led off the winning medley relay and was on the 400 free squad, joined on both by <strong>Luke Nebrich.<\/strong> Peschke was second in the 200 free and 200 back. Nebrich was second in the 50, as was Bochenski in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>The teams traded the diving advantage with some high quality efforts on the board. <strong>Collier Dyer<\/strong> won 1-meter for Mizzou, his score of 356.03 edging Purdue\u2019s <strong>Max Miller<\/strong> by exactly three points, and Purdue had the next three scorers. <strong>Jordan Rzepka<\/strong> won 3-meter with a score of 392.95, but Dyer broke the Boilermaker blockade by getting into second place at 376.20.<\/p>\n<p>On the women\u2019s side, Purdue produced wins in each of the last four races to surge to the win. <strong>Adele Sands<\/strong>, who earlier won the 200 free, eked out a win over Missouri\u2019s 1,000 free champ <strong>Zoe Schneider<\/strong> by .93 seconds in the 500 free. <strong>Keira Kask<\/strong> led five swimmers clustered within a half-second in 55.15 to win the 100 fly, .05 up on Mizzou\u2019s <strong>Taylor Williams.<\/strong> Kask had earlier finished second to Williams in the 200 fly. <strong>Kathryn Ackerman<\/strong> won the 200 IM, then the team of <strong>Lara Phipps, Caitlin Hurley,<\/strong> Sands and <strong>Hannah Hill<\/strong> went 3:22.03 to seal it with a win in the 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Purdue had only three wins in the front half of the meet. One was from <strong>Abby Marcukaitis,<\/strong> who went 54.23 in the 100 back. Hill won the 50 free. Marcukaitis was later second in the 200 back. Purdue won both diving events, with <strong>Avery Worobel<\/strong> (315.98) triumphing on 1-meter and <strong>Sophia McAfee<\/strong> (343.50) leading on 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lina Bank<\/strong> led Missouri with a sweep of the breaststroke events. She swam that stroke on the Tigers\u2019 winning 200 medley relay. Backstroke <strong>Sydney Bales<\/strong> was second in the 100. <strong>Abbey Taute<\/strong> was second in the 200 free before winning the 200
