October 17 Declared Katie Ledecky Day by Montgomery County, Maryland<\/strong><\/p>\n

October 17 was recognized as Katie Ledecky<\/strong> Day by her home of Montgomery County, Maryland.<\/p>\n

The native of Bethesda made a stop home on her post-Olympics tour<\/a>, meeting with students from her alma mater, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.<\/p>\n

County executive Marc Elrich<\/strong> presided over the event, which included a citation from Maryland\u2019s General Assembly, presented by Delegates Teresa Woorman<\/strong> and Sarah Wolek<\/strong> of District 16. A street near the school\u2019s campus has been renamed \u201cKatie Ledecky Lane,\u201d with new signage unveiled for the occasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty neat to have a street named after me,\u201d Ledecky told reporters<\/a>. \u201cHopefully, anyone that drives by it will think of the work that I\u2019ve put in and how much I love swimming \u2026 and hopefully, that can brighten their day when they drive by it and inspire them to reach for their goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
