To do so, Swimming World brings its readership the latest installment of Week in Review, which is headlined by <strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> announcing her withdrawal from December&#8217;s World Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The double Olympic champion in the 100-meter backstroke and 200 backstroke, McKeown initially planned to race at the global competition in Budapest. But after some reflection, McKeown revealed that she needed a break from high-level racing. While the Aussie still plans to compete during this month&#8217;s World Cup stops in Asia, she believed it made sense to rejuvenate both physically and mentally on the way to the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kaylee-mckeown-announces-surprise-withdrawal-from-world-short-course-championships-world-cups-remain-on-schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read More About McKeown&#8217;s Decision<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last week also featured the announcement by two-time Olympian Katie Grimes that she will attend the University of Virginia, a decision that bolsters the roster of the reigning NCAA championship program. Grimes brings significant versatility to UVA, thanks to her skill set in the distance-freestyle events, 400 individual medley, 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke.
