Andrea Filadelli & Ines Delacroix Lift Overall Crowns Following Final Leg Of European Aquatics Open Water Cup<\/h4>\r\n

Andrea Filadelli<\/strong> and Ines Delacroix<\/strong> clinched the overall titles in the European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup 2024 following the final leg in Ra\u017eanac, Croatia.<\/p>

The pair entered the fifth leg atop the respective rankings with Filadelli securing the title with second in a photo finish with Italy teammate Ivan Giovannoni<\/strong>, who came with a late charge in the finishing chute to win in 1:53:32.69 to 1:53:32:89.<\/p>

With that Filadelli earned 700pts to finish with 2000pts and the men\u2019s title.<\/p>

Italian men finished 1-2 in the rankings as Giovannoni moved from 12th<\/sup> to second with 1500pts ahead of Marcel Schouten<\/strong> of the Netherlands whose eighth place in 1:54:49.03 saw him finish third with 1340pts.<\/p>

Filadelli led into the final chute before Giovannoni came past to touch the panel first and take victory by 0.2secs.<\/p>\r\n

Mexico\u2019s Paulo Strehlke Delgado<\/strong> touched next in 1:53:34.23 but with only European swimmers registering points, it meant Italians \u2013 as in Belgrade – enjoyed a clean sweep of the podium as Giuseppe Ilario<\/strong> came third in 1:53:41.50.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n

They were followed by teammates Dario Verani<\/strong> (1:53:44.41) and Pasquale Giordano<\/strong> (1:54:14.58).<\/p>\r\n

Delacroix had a 750-point buffer coming into Ra\u017eanac ahead of Lisa Pou<\/strong> following a fine campaign in which she enjoyed a top-six finish in each of the previous four races.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Frenchwoman was 13th<\/sup> in the final race in 2:05:07.11 as Lea Boy<\/strong> claimed her second straight victory in 2:00:50.93 with a last-lap charge but it was sufficient for Delacroix to win the overall title with 2980pts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Pou of Monaco was second with 2750pts followed by Caroline Jouisse<\/strong> (2250pts) and Boy who collected 1600pts from just two races.<\/p>\r\n

Pou led going into the final lap but it was Boy who produced a perfectly-timed finish to come past the Paris Olympian and move away down the final chute.<\/p>\r\n

Boy, who was overall third in the 2023 edition, claimed a 2.74sec victory over Pou (2:00.:53.67) with the pair followed by Jeanette Spiwoks<\/strong> (2:00:54.86) and Jouisse (2:00:55.01).<\/p>\r\n
