He\u2019s less than a month removed from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/on-heartbreaking-night-caeleb-dressel-says-hes-still-enjoying-the-ride\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">missing out on an individual medal at the Paris Olympics<\/a>, taking home gold in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/paris-olympics-day-1-finals-caeleb-dressel-anchors-american-men-to-third-consecutive-400-freestyle-relay-gold\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">men\u2019s 400 free relay<\/a> and mixed medley relay as well as silver in the 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m young. I\u2019m feeling good,\u201d Dressel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.in\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/40981783\/dressel-aiming-cap-olympic-career-one-last-50m-free-la-2028-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s hard right now because when you get done with a championship meet the last thing you want to think about is swimming. That\u2019s why I\u2019m running around in Daytona and having a good time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it has always been one of my dreams to compete on American soil at a championship meet. So, yes, my eyes are on 2028. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be a full-event lineup. I think maybe just the 50 free, put a little bit more muscle on, don\u2019t have to be in as good a shape. So maybe look forward to just doing the splash-and-dash. That might be a good time for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dressel turned 28 on Aug. 16, born in 1996, the last time the Summer Olympics was in the United States. He\u2019s the owner of 10 career Olympic gold medals, nine of them gold. That includes three individual medals from the Tokyo Olympics, in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly. His program was shorter in Paris, having qualified in the 100 free only for the relay. A common path to longevity, especially for male sprinters, is to go shorter \u2013 in distance and in program \u2013 as they advance in age.<\/p>\n<p>Dressel finished sixth in the 50 free in Paris with a time of 21.61 seconds that was just .05 off the podium (he\u2019d won in Tokyo in an Olympic record 21.07). He was 13th in the 100 fly, falling short of finals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot the exact results I wanted from the games this year, individually, but that\u2019s how the sport goes sometimes,\u201d he said. \u201cSometimes it\u2019s not your week, but I\u2019m holding my head high. It\u2019s really nice being home. I hope I made my country proud and hope I did my job on relays.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dressel has been public about his battles with mental health. He\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/a-refreshed-caeleb-dressel-is-surging-toward-paris-with-momentum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developed a new outlook on the sport<\/a> since the birth of his son, August, in February.
