A Typical Day in the Life of a College Swimmer<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s about that time of the year. Most college freshmen are loading up their cars and getting ready to move in to their first dorm room. Freshman year can be intimidating. Students feel an abundance of emotions leading up to move-in day, and they may feel even more unsure about what to expect in their new everyday life.<\/p>\n

Although college may be a little nerve-wracking for incoming freshmen, it is a wonderful experience, and every student should soak up every second of it because it does go by fast! If you are a high school student or an incoming college freshman who is looking to get a better understanding of a typical day in the life of a collegiate swimmer, read along to see what your day might look like.<\/p>\n

The following class schedule is from the spring semester of my junior year. As a journalism major and marketing minor, most of my classes were geared toward those fields of study. Listed below is what my typical day looked like on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, including swim practices.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

5:25 a.m. \u2013 Wake up<\/p>\n

6-8 a.m. \u2013 Morning swim practice with the team<\/p>\n

9-10:30 a.m. \u2013 Study\/do homework with friends on campus<\/p>\n

10:45-11:40 a.m. \u2013 First class of the day (Foundations of Professional Sales)<\/p>\n

12-1:30 p.m. \u2013 Time to eat lunch, relax and catch up on any schoolwork<\/p>\n

2-2:55 p.m. \u2013 Second class of the day (Strategic Social Media)<\/p>\n

3:15-5:15 p.m. \u2013 Second swim practice<\/p>\n

5:30-6:30 p.m. \u2013 Dinner<\/p>\n

7-9 p.m. \u2013 Study at the library<\/p>\n

9-10 p.m. \u2013 Hang out with my roommates before it\u2019s time to hit the hay<\/p>\n

10:30 p.m. \u2013 Lights out<\/p>\n

As a student-athlete, it is very important to manage your time well. Having two mandatory practices every day makes it necessary to prioritize your time wisely.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Listed below is what my Tuesday and Thursday schedule looked like during the spring semester of my junior year.<\/p>\n

7:25 a.m. \u2013 Wake up<\/p>\n

8-9 a.m. \u2013 Team weightlifting session<\/p>\n

9:15-10:30 a.m. \u2013 Eat breakfast and get ready for my first class<\/p>\n

11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. \u2013 First class of the day (Advertising and PR writing)<\/p>\n

12:30-1:30 p.m. \u2013 Eat Lunch and relax before my next class<\/p>\n

2-3:20 p.m. \u2013 Second class of the day (Europe in the 20th<\/sup> century)<\/p>\n

3:15-5:15 p.m. \u2013 Swim practice<\/p>\n

5:30-6:30 p.m. \u2013 Dinner<\/p>\n

7-9 p.m. \u2013 Study at the library<\/p>\n

9-10 p.m. \u2013 Spend time with my roommates<\/p>\n

10:30 p.m. \u2013 Lights out<\/p>\n

Every student-athlete\u2019s day-to-day life is bound to look a little different, but I hope this gives students a better idea of what to expect a day in college to be like.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
