Veteran Coach Scott Teeters to Lead Eastern Illinois Program<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scott Teeters,<\/strong> a veteran head coach at the college level, has been hired to lead Eastern Illinois.<\/p>\n

Introduced on Thursday, he\u2019s the 10th coach in program history but the fourth in as many seasons for a Panthers program that has seen recent upheaval. The program was suspended last November due to hazing allegations<\/a>, which led to the departure of coach Jonathan Jordan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Teeters has been a coach for 40 years, including 25 years in college with programs like Eastern Michigan, Oakland and Gardner-Webb.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to thank Dr. Jay Gatrell and Tom Michael for this exciting opportunity,\u201d Teeters said in a university statement<\/a>. \u201cTheir leadership goals for the EIU swim program align perfectly with my vision for transforming Panthers swimming into a life changing endeavor. I want to create a place where our athletes can come back in 10 years and still feel like they belong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Teeters\u2019 most recent college stop was at Olivet Nazarene University, which won men\u2019s NAIA Championships in 2016 and 2017 under his watch and the 2017 women\u2019s championship. A four-time NAIA Coach of the Year, he mentored more than 40 individual and relay national championships.<\/p>\n

Teeters spent the last five seasons at Kankakee High School in Illinois, where he also taught. He also coached for three years at Novi High School in Michigan. Teeters has worked at various levels for USA Swimming, as a national select camp coach, a national age group camp coach, a board member for Michigan Swimming and a head zone coach for Team Michigan.<\/p>\n
