OXFORD, Ohio, July 22. OHIO State Swim Club swept all four relays tonight to extend its lead in the combined team standings at the Speedo Champions Series Sectional meet in Oxford.<\/p>\n
A pair of relays opened up tonight\u2019s action at Miami University, with timed finals of the women\u2019s and men\u2019s 200 medley relay. On the women\u2019s side, Ohio State Swim Club\u2019s Halime Zulal Zeren, Amy Bopp, Annelise Sprau and Annelise Jongekrijg edged Club Wolverine\u2019s Julia Fiks Salem, Shannon Cowley, Anna Demonte and Madeline Frost, 1:57.11 to 1:57.67. The Club Wolverine B squad of Kayla Douglas, Monica Dorszewski, Jessica Godlewski and Molly Schaefer placed third with a 1:58.89. Meanwhile, in the men\u2019s relay the Ohio State B squad of Rowan Williams, Kevin Bressler, Mason Miller and Daniel Disalle just out-touched the A squad of Garrett Trebilcock, Tyler Stevenson, Peter Lyon and Vladislav Komarov, 1:43.91 to 1:44.19. Club Wolverine\u2019s foursome of Robert Zofchak, Ryan Fisher, Adam Whitener and Brian Moore placed third in 1:45.12.<\/p>\n
After just sneaking into the women\u2019s 200 free final with the eighth-best time this morning, Cincinnati Marlin Alexandra Wooden surged by her heat in finals, dropping almost three seconds to win in 2:03.95. Mollie Pulte of Motor City Aquatics also moved up several spots, from fourth to second with her 2:05.13. Ohio State\u2019s Katherine Luchansky, the seventh seed after prelims, wound up third with a 2:05.71. Ohio State\u2019s Steffen Hillmer dropped over three seconds from his morning swim to win the men\u2019s 200 free, moving up from sixth to first with his 1:50.78. Andrew Henry of Club Wolverine posted a 1:51.92 for second, just off his morning swim of 1:51.75. Brian Moore, also of Club Wolverine, rounded out the top three in 1:52.00.<\/p>\n
Ohio State picked up its second-straight victory, this time in the 100 fly. Aliena Schmidtke dipped under 1:00 with a 59.90, more than two seconds in front of Firestone Akron\u2019s Erin Seiler (1:01.98). Emma Cleason of Club Wolverine posted a 1:02.17 to take third. Jacob Moore of Spartan Swim Club claimed the men\u2019s 100 fly title in 55.11, slightly ahead of Club Wolverine teammates Aaron Ghiglieri (55.56) and Adam Whitener (55.60).<\/p>\n
Ohio State\u2019s Lindsey Clary demolished the field in the women\u2019s 400 IM final, winning by nine seconds in 4:52.35. Clary\u2019s teammate, Annie Gillig, was the next-closest finisher at 5:01.12, while Samantha Lisy of the Solon Stars touched third in 5:02.55. Christopher Depietro of Ohio State took home the men\u2019s 400 IM title with a 4:29.12, a little over three seconds in front of teammate Ian Reardon\u2019s 4:32.81. Nicholas Killeen of Club Wolverine finished on the podium as well with a 4:35.91.<\/p>\n
The Ohio State women went two-for-two in the relays today as Annelise Sprau, Kathryn Luchansky, Annelise JJongekrijg and Aliena Schmidtke topped the 400 free relay in 3:50.60. Julia Fiks Salem, Jessica Godlewski, Alexandra Nelson and Molly Schaefer of Club Wolverine weren\u2019t far behind as they posted a 3:51.83. The Cincinnati Marlins quartet of Hannah Foster, Molly Zilch, Josephine Grote and Alexandra Wooden rounded out the top three in 3:55.01. Ohio State\u2019s relay team of Steffen Hillmer, Vladislav Komarov, Garrett Trebilcock and Rowan Williams won the men\u2019s race in 3:25.21, ahead of Club Wolverine\u2019s Matthew Zimmerman, Andrew Henry, Brian Moore and Adam Whitener (3:29.74). Redhawk Aquatics\u2019 Lucas Brock, Chris Dieter, Andrew Kilkenny and Joseph Baumgartner took third in 3:31.46.<\/p>\n
Ohio State leads the combined team standings with 1,135 points after two days of competition. Club Wolverine (1,004 points) and Cincinnati Marlins (438 points) sit second and third.<\/p>\n
