Should the French make finals \u2013 as is likely, entering seeded fourth \u2013 <strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong> and <strong>Maxime Grousset<\/strong> would sub in on the back two legs. The finals are Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. is going with a full B team, trusting two swimmers that didn\u2019t make much headway in their events. <strong>Hunter Armstrong<\/strong> leads off, followed by <strong>Charlie Swanson, Thomas Heilman<\/strong> and <strong>Jack Alexy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/paris-olympics-mens-medley-relay-names-prelims-day-1\/international-elite\/2024\/August\/3?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Men&#8217;s Relay Names<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The men\u2019s relay will feature a matchup of podium finishers in breaststroke in the second heat. <strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> is in for Great Britain, returning after his COVID-19 absence. He\u2019ll pair with <strong>Oliver Morgan, Joe Litchfield<\/strong> and <strong>Matt Richards.<\/strong> He\u2019ll be swimming against <strong>Nicolo Martinenghi<\/strong> of Italy. The Italians field near a first-choice roster, with <strong>Thomas Ceccon<\/strong> out front, <strong>Giacomo Carini<\/strong> manning the weak leg of fly and <strong>Alessandro Miressi<\/strong> on the end.<\/p>\n<p>In the first heat, the Dutch and Chinese go full bore. Netherlands has <strong>Kai Van Westering<\/strong> handing off to <strong>Casper Corbeau, Nyls Korstanje<\/strong> and <strong>Stan Pijnenburg.<\/strong> China is going with the A team, with <strong>Xu Jiayu, Qin Haiyang, Wang Changhao<\/strong> and new 100 free record holder <strong>Pan Zhanle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/en\/paris-2024\/schedule\/swimming?day=27-july\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-olympic-games-coverage-paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 Paris Olympics Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the women\u2019s side, it\u2019s B teams for the U.S. and most of the main competitors. <strong>Kate Douglass,<\/strong> who will swim the final of the 200 IM, is a bit of a surprise on the anchor leg, though it\u2019s a responsibility she knows well. Both <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> and <strong>Gretchen Walsh,<\/strong> who has the 50 free prelims earlier in the session, are held for finals. Joining Douglass in prelims is <strong>Katharine Berkoff, Emma Weber<\/strong> and <strong>Alex Shackell,<\/strong> the latter coming down from the 200 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Finals will see <strong>Regan Smith,<\/strong> Huske, Walsh and <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> drafted in.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/paris-olympics-womens-medley-relay-names-prelims-day-1\/international-elite\/2024\/August\/3?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women&#8217;s Relay Names<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Aussies are going with a backup side, as well. Iona Anderson is out front, followed by <strong>Ella Ramsay, Alexandria Perkins<\/strong> and <strong>Meg Harris. Emma McKeon<\/strong> will likely find her way onto the relay in fly, with <strong>Mollie O\u2019Callaghan<\/strong> on free. <strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> will swim in the front half, presumably in backstroke but perhaps in breast if that endures as a weakness.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the medal contenders behind that top two are going strong early. China has <strong>Wang Xueer, Tang Qianting, Yu Yiting<\/strong> and <strong>Wu Qingfeng.<\/strong> They would welcome in <strong>Zhang Yufei<\/strong> for fly and <strong>Yang Junxuan<\/strong> for free in the final.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutch roll with <strong>Maaike de Waard, Tes Schouten, Tessa Giele<\/strong> and <strong>Marrit Steenbergen,<\/strong> perhaps one change possible for finals. France is in the same boat, with <strong>Beryl Gastadello<\/strong> likely to find a lane if they make finals. <strong>Emma Terebo, Charlotte Bonnet, Marie Wattel<\/strong> and <strong>Mary-Ambre Moluh<\/strong> handle the morning.<\/p>\n<p>Eyes on Sweden as they field <strong>Hanna Rosvall, Sophie Hansson, Louise Hansson<\/strong> and <strong>Sarah Sjostrom,<\/strong> the latter after doing the 50 free.
